Listening to Talking Cowboys and Micky and Broaddus Calling Out Garrett

I'm not a fan of Garrett, I never quite had the feeling that he was the right guy for the job -- as much as I wanted to have that feeling. That being said, more than anything, I kinda feel sorry for him. It's one thing to fail in your first shot at a head job -- it's another entirely to fail while also being seen as a guy with no authority or vision, as someone who was willing to go along with the firing of a Defensive Coordinator for whom he'd very recently voiced support. Who allows himself to be put in the position of acting like he went to camp with the Bucs in 2005 so he could study Kiffin, so that the guy's hiring can be seen as something he wanted all along. I was rooting for him to just quit during the offseason -- he'd have gained far more respect from people around the league, and the media, and the fans, if he'd done that. (And yes, I completely admit that's pure speculation -- for all I know, folks around the league think the world of him. But I'd be surprised if that were the case, after the last few years.) It's sad, because you have to wonder if his career ever really rebounds from what right now appears to be an impending dismissal. The only kind of coach that can possibly have any success with Jerry around is someone like Parcells, someone who has enough stature to negotiate a certain level of control and who will be seen by everyone as THE guy.

I'm ashamed to admit that lately I sometimes find myself thinking that the only real hope for this franchise's future is for us to lose as many games as possible this year, by as wide a margin as possible, so that Jones is forced (if such a thing is possible) to bring in someone whose profile eclipses his own...a la Parcells. Who knows if anyone like that is even available. Who knows if Jones would hire that person for any reason whatsoever. But simply firing Kiffin, or firing Garrett and bringing in a lower profile coach will accomplish nothing. There needs to be someone who will galvanize the organization and imprint his philosophy upon it.

I live in NY. I went to every Giants-Cowboys game at the Meadowlands between 1978 and 2003 (plus intermittently after that); I used to travel to Dallas once a year for a game; I was lucky enough to go to Super Bowl XXX. I've probably spent the equivalent of several years worth of salary following the team, but I can't bring myself to do it anymore. Not until I feel like I can feel like I'm doing my own tiny little part to contribute towards success, instead of rewarding ineptitude.

Sorry to ramble.

Mickey just said it was the first game in the history of the Bears franchise that they did not punt or have a turnover...........................he said this defense belongs in the Arena league.

Man, I have never heard Micky tear into Garrett and the team like this before..................He sounds freaking pissed.

I think last night may have been the breaking point. When the company man, Mr. Sunshine, Mr. everything is great, Mickey Spags turns on the coaches and the team.........................could be the nail in the coffin for Garrett and crew.

Mickey is hearing things and simply prepping the fan base for the decision to come.

Jerry has Mickeys ear so you know something may be brewing with the RHG because mickeys lips have been firmly attached to Garret....so this is telling in how Mickey is talking.

Said there is not way you do not go for it on 4th down on the Bear's side of the field the way the defense was playing. When freaking Mickey starts to sour on Garrett, the end is near.

Got the impression that they both though it was a give up move..............got to say I agree.

That would be one of the only times we've heard Mick be critical of Jason. I think that's very telling as you suggest. The idiot is nothing more than an advanced press organ for the FO.

Fellas...lets not act like Jason has ANYTHING to do with Kiffin being here. Jerry brought Kiffin here...so I don't think we should lay this defense at the feet of Garrett. And Garrett did not give Carr 50m. Garrett did not trade a #2 and use the #6 pick on Claiborne. I am not the biggest Garrett fan. But Jerry has his hands all over this defense...and he should not get a free pass.

I agree, although it's been laughably spun differently (Jason the RKG decision maker), but we shouldn't have a Head Coach that is such a cardboard cut out in the first place....Jason should have been instrumental in making those calls - good, or bad.

Yeah, I heard similar things from Mickey on one of his Fan reports today. I was pretty shocked he was calling out that fourth down call as well as Kiffin's lack of aggression... It's pretty rare to hear Mickey really get into the Xs and Os like that, especially in a negative way.

Nice post.....................................Garrett will be lucky to get a QB coach job at this point.

Yea, I think Micky may be hearing some things...................like you said, he never really gets into the Xs and Os of the game and how the coaching staff basically doesnt know what they are doing.

Guys...serious question. After Jerry came out and said Garrett will be head coach next year...How do you think he will spin it if he actually does fire Garrett?

"At that time, I was sure Garrett was the man"................however, after multiple arse whoopings on national tv and blowing the division for a 3rd straight year to a 3rd different division rival................."things have changed".

There you go Jerry, I just wrote your presser..............just read it just like I wrote it and the media will not call you on it...............no need to thank me, I am doing this for the good of the franchise.

If I wake up tomorrow and see Hostile on here slamming Garrett too, I will know that hell has officially frozen over.

He doesn't have to spin it. Ed Werder quoted the guy from a long time ago when Jerry said that his statements are really only a statement about that day.

Garrett may very well deserve the criticism but they’re having a go at the monkey when they should (not that they’re likely to) have a go at the organ grinder

Not making the playoffs is NOT an option for Garrett's job....as many have said, I think these calls saying negative things about Garrett speaks volumes of the reins being taken off...little Stevie likely gave them a call on Tuesday morning (early) and said "daddy said it's OK to get everyone to start being mad at the coaches, as long as they are NOT mad at any Jones'. OK, I expect to hear something later today"
what a joke this organization is....they are more transparent than a pane of glass

Agreed start counting Garrett's days.

Bring on Gruden, I need a psychopath after this regime.

A REAL head coach would make those calls....but that has only existed when Jimmy and Parcells were here. Not only that...Jason was in a no-win situation...if he did not agree to Bill Callahan becoming the play caller and Kiffin being hired.....he would have been fired. Jerry issued Garrett a take it or leave proposition this past offseason.

I think it was recently announced that Gruden would be staying in television at least through 2014. Or maybe it was 2015. I am starting to get the feeling that Gruden wants to be the next John Madden. Head coach turned Color commentator and doing a bunch of commercials too.

As I have stated...my choice would be Ken Whisenhunt.
