Jay Cutler 7-yr Contract Extension - $50 mil guaranteed

Can't believe they signed him for that long and much.

$50 million guaranteed for a guy with one playoff win?

I rather have Romo with his Batman broken Bane Back than Cutler

Based on teammate @alexmarvez's numbers, that's $54m over first 3 years for Cutler. Recently, Matt Ryan got $63m over 3.

Cutler's a messy QB. Always has been because he can get away with mechanical craptitude. But when he's aligned, it's really scary.

Wonder how that compares to Romo's deal, when the numbers come out.
How old is Cutler, 30?

Makes the 2014 QB free agent crop next to nothing. If a team needs a QB they better draft one or trade for Cousins.

Considering, Tressmans system can work with literally any QB, this is a horrific move.

I can't think of one other QB in history, that gets outplayed by his backup for almost half the season and gets rewarded with a monster contract.

Quarterbacks are scarce resources. You really have no shot of finding one in free agency and it's tough to win if yours isn't at least competent. No guarantee you can find one in the draft either unless you are willing to part with an arm and a leg like the Commanders did.

The typical contract rules don't really apply. If your quarterback is even above average he's going to run you 20 million a year.

Since we signed then 33 year old Tony Romo, who's accomplished a tad bit less in his career than Jay Cutler, to a 6 year $110 million contract, we as Cowboys fans can't really ridicule this move...

He hasn't accomplished less, he's just been in a worse organization
