Jay Cutler 7-yr Contract Extension - $50 mil guaranteed

Tony Romo has accomplished twice as much in his career than Jay Cutler. Wow.

Like what? They both have a single playoff victory, only that Jay Cutler has played (a little bit) in an NFC Championship game. He's already the Bears all time leader for completions and passer rating and second (will no doubt end up first in both) for yards and TDs in 5 seasons.

another one that failed football 101

the first 3 years is all that matters right? after that Bears can unload the contract if they want. The 7 years give them flexibility with the cap. not many QB's out there I think it works. Putting trust in that offensive coach to be able to work with Cutler to do big things.

Wish the Bears were in our division... because that team isn't going anywhere with Cutler leading it. Same with the Cowboys and Romo. RIP our next 2 years (If Romo lasts that long)

I'm thinking Jerry gave the bears 40 million in cash just so Cutlers deal would make Romo's deal look good.

He was terrible in that NFC championship game. Tim Tebow Terrible. 43% completion percentage and 2 picks, and then got injured. Romo has a higher completion percentage, 53 more TDs, 11 less INTs, more yards per attempt. Basically, every stat that matters, Romo has outclassed Cutler.

I can't think of one other QB in history, that gets outplayed by his backup for almost half the season and gets rewarded with a monster contract.

Psst Kyle Orton and Romo, nearly same scenario lol

I'm not saying it was a good move by the Bears, but if we're using one game as a measuring stick for Jay Cutler, then we would have to do the same for Romo as well...and we all know what kind of games he's had.

Romo has more stats, but Cutler has advanced his team further than Romo has...that's what my criteria for accomplishment is. Jim Everett outclassed Aikman in just about every single passing statistic as well, I wouldn't say he's more accomplished. I wouldn't say Romo is more accomplished than Eli or Flacco either.

I realize Jay Cutler hasn't won a Super Bowl, but it's a case of the pot calling the kettle black when posters here say how horrible of a deal this was for Chicago without taking into consideration that we pretty much did the exact same thing.
