Robert Mathis went from 8 to 19.5 sacks in his age 32 season. Never had more than 11 his whole career. Heck, Phillips and Abraham both the best season they had in years. Bruce Smith had 14 sacks when he was 34.
Do any of you guys think its out of the realm of possibility for him to have some sort of a rejuvenating year next year?

What type of numbers you think he will put up next year.

(Yes, in a Cowboy uniform)

Absolutely, Ware has a few good years left in him. The question is: Can he stay healthy?

He may not be the premier pass rusher he once was but he can still contribute under the right contractual arrangement.

Well, I was going to add a poll to the thread guess his sack number this year... Cant figure it out though.

Nope, he's been done for a couple of years. I'd be more than happy to have him back at 50% of his current salary.

You will be able to see it first hand because he isn't going anywhere. I'm guessing the answer is no. Hopefully he will be able to put up better numbers but I'm not counting on it by any measure.

Done for a couple of years?

In 2012, he had 11.5 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, and 4 tackles for a loss. That obviously is not someone who was "done"

lulz, in another thread there was a member who said a Floyd shouldve been drafted because at that point Ware hadnt looked right for 2 years....
Yes.... that 19.5 sack year. lol

He just has to stay healthy and he'll definitely still be a guy that can get you 12 or 13 sacks. You can't expect him to be the same guy he was 5 years ago. but he can still be a very productive player.

Maybe after this year he will be figured to be less of a factor by offenses and have more favorable matchups.

Second half of last year he was pretty non-existent, injuries or no.

The difference between Ware and those other guys is that they all have moves he doesn't. Through his career, he's always been dependent on speed and athleticism on the edge to get sacks. He's never even developed an inside move. If he has lost a step, eh won't be able to compensate for it like those other guys by being a savvy rusher.

That's only going to happen if our GM can field a competent D line around him.....something people also conveniently forget about when discussing Ware's past couple of seasons.

Are you trying to tell me that names like Nick Hayden, Everette Brown, Edgar Jones and Jarius Wynn dont strike fear into you?

Probably. But he will have to take a 50% paycut or I'd cut him. I'd set the over/under for ware sacks next year at 7. George Selvie levels.

DeMarcus Ware has not lost a step. He is nearly as quick as he has ever been off the snap.

His sack numbers have been impacted mainly by his reduction in strength to bypass blockers. This past season saw him being effectively stonewalled or carried well passed the quarterback regularly for all four quarters.

Nagging injuries may be his main strength issue, but he has shown the same inability to bull rush quarterbacks after he said an injury had subsided. If injuries are not sapping away from his power moves, age must be the culprit.

Meh, of all the overpaid contracts Ware has the one that bothers me the least. Im aware that players dont ger paid for being good in the past and he has declined... To what level though? If anyone is taking the team to the cleaners Id perfer it be Demarcus. I love what Austin has done for Dallas in the past and still think he could play a important role, but damn... His contract is a complete abomination.

Im really wondering what the Dline is going to look like next year. I doubt Ware is leaving, but Spencer, Hatcher???

He has an average yr left in him at best

Again with the "he doesn't have moves" nonsense.
