Philip Seymour Hoffman dead at 46

Good actor! I just saw Hunger Games yesterday and he did good in that movie.

Gotta say I still think of that scene between him and Ralph Fiennes in Red Dragon, so uncomfortable.

Great actor. Shame he didn't get his act together with three young kids and a wife.

It is black and white to me. Don't mess with heroin to start with. I've had it offered to me a couple of times and turned it down. I knew the consequences that drug and I wasnt about to tempt the devil.

I have no problem with him doing the drugs. It's his choice, but as I said before, no sympathy.

He was human. Any loss of life gets my sympathy.

Wow, that is sad news. He was great in Capote and the gasoline addict flick (title escapes me).

Yes, I was clinched that whole scene. Great actor...loved him as Stiller's friend in Along Came Polly too...:(

That sort of death while shooting up (ie, needle still in the arm) is quite often related to impurities in the street drugs and some sort of toxic shock. While mixing depressents can take you down fairly quickly, real heroin overdoses actually take a fair amount of time to kill you.

Too bad for Hoffman.

RIP.

It seemed like he was always high. In movies, in everything. I know it's not the case but I wasn't surprised when I heard the news.

His actions/non actions are why he is no longer here.
I don't feel bad about it.

Yeah many act tough and show no compassion because they like to pass judgement on others. It's awful news, sad.

actually it takes more stones to judge then to wimp out and whine and cry.

Idiot used heroin. Knew it was bad for him but kept going back to it. Stupid and weak. Too bad but he made his choice and he died for it.

No stones necessary to judge someone you dont know on a internet forum.

Sorry screwed that post up trying to get it in between plays. Still would like to know how it takes any kind of "stones" to judge someone on the internet

It takes little thought or intellect to jump in and judge a situation you know nothing about.

I feel bad for his children and his family.

Sad that junkies do not love there families more than their drugs.

I'm not passing judgement. He did drugs and died because of it. I'm not sad because of it. How is that passing judgement?

That's how I feel.

I'm sorry that it happened.

But I'm more sorry about the rest of the family... being without a father much soon than they needed to be.

He was selfish.

Read your posts again, How isn't it?

People say they wouldn't do that, they wouldn't be that stupid, yet have never walked a mile in the judged shoes. It's the culture in America today.

That is one of the silliest things I've read in a while.

I don't think everyone has to feel sorry for him or his situation. It is what it is and it doesn't truly affect most people; however, I don't think it takes any stones to judge the guy.
