Cowboys have Tyron Smith and Dez Bryant to pay. They can't be making monster deals like that to the safety position.

The safety position is probably the most important position on the defense. We've had monster contracts at WR and OL. Where did it take us? What have we not had since the days of a feared defense? What have we been needing for almost two decades??? A safety!!!

This is how I broke down Byrd's proposed contract. Was only off by about 4m, that would add about 1m to each year 3-6:

If they want to sign Byrd, here is a way to make it work. Give him 6yr/50m with 15m signing bonus and 24m guaranteed.
