He obviously was not a fit for the 4-3 despite many on here saying he'd be great. His injury problems were only made worse by the change.
I see a pretty big year for him at his natural position.

Ask yourself one simple question.

If he was a free agent from another team, what would your reaction have been if Jerry had given him a two year deal for $30m plus.

If you would have said "that's great business" then the answer to this question is NO.
If however you are living in the real world and you would have (rightly) slated Jerry for blowing a huge amount of money on a player who's production cannot be guaranteed based on his recent injury problems.

Is it a sad day that a Cowboys legend has gone, of course it is, but unfortunately it's a decision that HAD to be made.

Good, not only does it give him a chance to be in a Super Bowl calibre team, he also doesn't come back here as a member of a division rival.

I don't get why so many people wanted him gone (not saying you personally did) but then don't want to face him. I personally couldn't care less if he went to a team in our division. *shrug*

Because they're silly.

I think it would be poetic justice for Ware to go to Philly, come back, and dominate us en route to Philly's first Super Bowl.

I would have loved for him to still be a Cowboy, but financially it was never going to happen.

That being the case I would like to see him at a team that has a chance of making the Super Bowl, and that isn't a division rival.

I don't think anyone can be sure of just how good a player he may be in the next two seasons.
He could be over the worst of his injuries and be back to being a beast, or he could carry on as last season & be a shadow of his former self.

If you can structure a deal that is based on games & performance, it's probably worth the gamble.
Unfortunately four us, that wasn't an option

Good move for Ware. Denver will be able to manage his snaps and Ware will get the bulk of his snaps playing with a 10-14+ point lead. Should be able to get 12 sacks playing opposite Miller.

Hard decision but it's one of those situations where you let the guy go a year too early rather than a year too late. The Cowboys are usually letting them go a year too late. I guess I am a little surprised that it was Ware that we hopefully did the right thing. At least we have the more cap space. Hope the front office makes the right decisions. We really need a good draft, desperately.

I don't disagree with the decision. I knew it needed to happen. I'm very shocked they actually did it. I never listen to the people on here who always have a rainbows and daffodils view of the cap. I knew all these years of restructuring would come back to bite us. We are addicted to restructuring contracts. Thank you Stephen Jones....idiot.

The reason I say he will have 15+ sacks for a contender, is for a couple of reasons. 1. He'll be extremely motivated. I have a weird feeling he's not too happy about him being on the outs while Romo/Witten are treated like untouchables by this organization. Jason Garrett protects his own. He will work harder than ever this offseason to prove Jerry wrong, mark my words. 2. Virtually every team in this league has better talent on the dline than us. Also, virtually every team in this league has better depth than us on the dline. He's going to be in a more conducive environment to remain fresh and successful throughout the season. I also do not trust the training staff in Dallas. He'll benefit leaving and being around better medical staffs.

Then we are pretty much on the same page. I still think we can beef up the Dline through free agency and the draft though. There is a chance we can get Melton, Donald, and others and the line ends up a lot better off. Ware just hasn't been an impact player for a while now. Also, he is approaching 32 years old and has had nagging injuries the last few years. We need to get younger and lower our cap. I'm shocked they cut Ware too.. that is not Jerry's MO at all. This could be a good sign of things to come. Imagine if Jerry would have traded Romo last year instead of signing him to that team breaking contract.

To me this shows the organization is maturing finally and understanding when to cut bait on a player.

Ware for all his immense talent is on the downside, good luck to him but the organization just announced they are no longer in the business of coddling there vets.

Until they sign their baby #88 to a deal and pay him like Megatron. Tell me you cant see that coming like a freight train down the tracks.

My prediction. Ware will sign for 11-12 mill a year with Denver on a 3 yr contract.

You cant pay 16 million to an outside LB on the worst defense the NFL has seen in 10 years. You cut him and let him go.

I would say there is a 5% chance he comes back. I just don't see it happening. He should go get paid and play in a 3-4 defense.
