i would argue allen would be more important. this draft has lots of good dt prospects, not so much at de. to me you sign free agents to fill holes you don't think you can fill in the draft and you draft the cheaper players, and younger for all the holes the players are there to fill

I agree with this. My bet is we sign him today and let Melton go, which he already has apparently.

I don't see how STL signing him would impact Donald's drop to 16, but if Chicago resigned Melton... that I could swallow pretty easily.

Nothing wrong with Melton looking for the team that will pay the most.

Coming off a season ending injury makes you stare your NFL mortality in the eye.

Never said it was bad for him. It would be bad for dallas to continue going after him. You make your offer if he doesn't want it then let him walk and cut all ties.

Good... hopefully we didn't want to overpay...they might actually be learning and that's a great positive

Good. The NFL success rate of paying big money to free agents from another team and have it be worth it in your system is pretty low.

I keep saying this. Said it in another thread, and got slammed about it. Way more free agents don't work out for us than work out. The only 2 times I actually saw them work out was when Jimmy Johnson and when Bill Parcells was coaching.

Ironically, those were the last 2 times we had real head coaches . . . . .

Although Glover did play for Bill...I think he was brought in under Campo.

I think he is the best FA we had in a long time.

Dallas does not have the money to compete with teams who are well under the cap. You can keep saying no one wants to come here but that is a load of BS

Both were good starters, but they already had two good ends in Hardy and Johnson. We are nowhere near that. We need all of it, we do not have a single player on the roster right now I would consider a solid starter on the defensive line. We have a bunch of hope and crossed fingers.

And little cap room . . . . . .

Melton knows this is Jerry Jones we're talking about folks. The man has been overpaying for players since the dawn of time. Melton just wants some of that stupidity as well. He'll go to STL to raise the stakes a bit and I'm sure desperate Jerry will blink. Before the end of the week we'll be hearing about a 5 year/42 mill type of deal.

All this says is that it did not get insulting in negotiations and he had a nice pleasant free meal with his old DL coach.

If it meant anything more, he would never have taken the trip to St. Louis.

We're not out of it yet but I really thought if he made it in to visit he wouldn't have left.

He is doing exactly what I would do if I was in his position, speak to all of his suitors, see if he can get them bidding against one another and let the highest dollars win.
