Prediction About Ben Gardner

I wanted skov too... skov+cowboys= all of Mexico cowboys fans lol. guess he is headed to the 49ers practice squad...

I think some of you are going to be surprised at his pass rush ability, honestly. He has a lightning fast first step but very very rarely overruns plays or loses contain. I think RGIII is going to see a lot of Gardner. I think Gardner at SDE with Melton lined up inside of him is going to be very difficult, especially with the athleticism of Lawrence coming around the other corner. You really need to double all of these guys...

The fear one would have is his short arms would get him locked down with a long armed OT and he would be negated.

One hell of a pick in the 7th.......another guy to add to rotation at DE

30.75 inch arms in the NFL?

I was really getting excited about this pick until I read this. The T-Rex factor could be a legit problem going against OTs with arms 3-4 inches longer than his in the NFL. He'll need to use his impressive athleticism and great technique to overcome the arm length issue. He does appear to have some real explosiveness based on some of his testing numbers. I'm hopeful. We shall see.

He's going to be a run stuffing DT at 262 lbs?

That term wasn't coined by anyone in the Cowboys front office.

But Ourlads listed him at 274lbs. And he could play inside on passing downs.

The bottom line to all this is to get the #1 technique DT off the field as much as possible. Last season Hayden, who supplied no pass rush what-so-ever, play over 800 snaps.

That can't happen again.

That's why I think you're going to see him inside quite a bit on passing downs. Arm length won't be as much a factor.

Don't sleep on Crawford, Bass, or Bishop coming from the 1 either. We've got some guys that like to get upfield.

This is what so many forget. Technique completely negates arm length for defensive linemen. If he has violent hands and good eye-hand coordination, both of which he has and will get even better, he can knock the olinemen's hands off him. Arm length is really important for offense but not as much for defense.

Other than the short arms, everything else about this guy is very promising. The more guys with a high motor the better.
