If you ever pay attention to the Sound FX bits from Romo you can tell he is a great leader. It is the rest of the team that lets him down time after time.
I like how Kitna played during that stretch, but I thought Orton was awful. The guy just throws an endless supply of dump offs.
Thanks for taking the time to read it, and the feedback.
The point is, Kitna played at a lower level than Romo did in ANY of his seasons, yet you keep hearing how well he played.
He did play well, I thought, but not anything really special. One thing that did happen was the team that gave up on Wade had fire lit under the tails trying to assure themselves a place in the organization going forward under the new regime.
But yes, Kitna was a very good backup, imo.

I actually included him and Danny White, then decided to leave that out so I wouldn't cloud the subject.
Here's a serious question: If Danny White played the years that Staubach did, and vice versa, how many Super Bowls would each have won?
Kitna was average (which is all you can reasonably expect), but when your defense gives you that many takeaways, average is all you need to be.The point is, Kitna played at a lower level than Romo did in ANY of his seasons, yet you keep hearing how well he played.
Ok, so another season is upon us, and thus, another Romo will, or will not lead us to the promise land because thread ... I am, and have been for two years running, in the WILL NOT lead us to the Super Bowl camp. Further, I don't mind admitting that I have no intention of changing my view, which is essentially that Romo lacks the fire, the work ethic, the draft status, and the all-important quality of leadership to do much but throw endless number of yards of meaningless stats, to, season in and season out, float the balloon of false perception that he is a Super Bowl winning QB in-the-making. Right. We're what, going on 8 or 9 years now? And every season it's usually and injury or, an infamous interception that keeps Dallas from advancing. Last year, it was his back. Another year it was his shoulder. There was one year, as I recall, the football slipped through his hands and the resounding thwap!!! could be heard around the world. That year, I blamed the football. I quit blaming the football 2 years ago when Romo kept throwing it to the other team after the first two games to start the season.
According to a lot of fans, (and whose to say they are wrong? ... oh yeah me in the nicest possible way) Romo lacks the IF to ONLY, to succeed in this league; if only Parcells had stayed; if only Romo had had a defense like Manning, and Wilson; if only the offensive line hadn't been composed of wet grassland, instead of brick and mortar; if only Romo's receivers knew where to run the ball; if only he'd had the coaches that Manning, and Wilson had had; if only JJ wasn't an incompetent JJ; and my favorite, if only Dallas was actually Seattle we'd have a super bowl win, and not them.
I do know this for sure. It may not seem like I want Romo to succeed. But I'm not stupid. He has the talent. Still, how many talented individuals have we seen that don't measure up to their ability for one reason or another(and for which none of that should speak to their character). The list is long. So, if there is an indefinable quality that Romo has that will power him and his team to a super bowl win, (and one I can't see and admittedly will never see, even while yet acknowledging that it's very possible, [due to the finite reality that people can and do change], Romo supporters will be vindicated).
I surely do hope so. And I will watch this season as I do all the rest. With that hope. After all, I am an Orioles, and Wizards fan. I know how to do it.

Look at what he's had to lead. What he's accomplished has been nothing short of miraculous. Now, with a better offensive line, hopefully he won't have to be the only chance this thing has. Still need a pass rush on the other side.
Enjoy the next succession of Quincy Carter, Anthony Wright, Ryan Leaf, Drew Henson, Chad Hutchinson, Vinny Testeverde, and Drew Bledsoe.
Most of Don's playing career was before my time as a football fan, but I'm aware he was a very tough and solid QB who suffered a lot of grief from fans.
I think Tony has had to endure more though, just because we now have so many 24-hour sports channels and the Internet (where NFL Memes has a new derogatory Tony Romo meme every 2 hours). Was Don's name synonymous with choking? Did Don have his own curse?
F You, Meredith
Does that count?
Same ol same ol....... continue to make excuses for a QB who cannot figure out a way to LEAD. I , for one will not miss him.

LOL....it's not quite the same, but I get it. I love Dandy Don, too....and I know he was mistreated. So please don't think I'm excusing what happened to him. I'm not.
