Jerry Jones: I was so close to drafting Johnny Manziel

Yes, people have the right to voice an opinion. Just like many people voice there opinions on politics, economics, businesses, etc whether verbal or through commce (stocks, etc) . I also have the right to tell my wife she put on 5 pounds. Prudent people have self-awareness and judgement on when to speak and when to not.

Typically, societies and people that promote limiting opinions do not fair well in history. I would much rather someone try to tell benefits of racism or other bias, then someone covertly sneaking around and cloaking it under veiled innuendo. Makes identification much easier on whose opinions are valid whose aren't

Complain by all means, voice your opinion.

Just don't bash the other man, for his opinion on what he thinks makes the team better or anything he say in general, by saying "Just shut up"

I doubt half of us on here, could do a better job. We love to pretend so, because we watch the game, play madden, ect. It's not so though

lol, poured billions down into his self esteem....oh wait that was Scotch.

Hangover anywho?

At this point Jerry Jones deserves every criticism and should suffer. Drafting Manziel would have been a perfect kick in the teeth.

Alas there is some small ray of hope taking Zach "the Ambulance Driver" Martin. Have to hand some credit to em' if Zach works out at a high level and McClain can hang.

Some would be unhappy if things turn around....that's not my culture and heritage.

See that's why it goes beyond hating Jerry for destroying the team. We could have 5 Seasons straight full of success, but if we had 1 year after that. They would get mad and want to throw Jerry over into the ocean.

Even if we did good this year, they would still "Want" to be mad.

Don't look now, by the time Manziel's rookie contract is up, we'll need a QB.

If Manziel keeps doing stupid things like hanging/partying with Bieber (and Bieber's underage girls), rolling dollar bills in the bathroom, etc., I think his rookie contract will be terminated within two years. Especially, if he doesn't practice/play well. And if Manziel starts to drag some of his teammates along with him for extracurricular social activities, I think the Browns will part with him very quickly.

I think Jerry is full of it with these comments about almost drafting Johnny Football. I remember the Round 1 post draft press conference how he talked about they did not spend a lot of time considering drafting Johnny in the first round because of there commitment to Romo. This was said in the first minute of the press conference here:
http://www.dallascowboys.com/multim...nference/863dc270-e253-40db-ab8c-b7c8553cd173

I think Jerry is just trying to get media attention with these comments or is trying to appease fans somehow by stating they liked the "Homegrown Texas quarterback", Johnny Football. Or maybe he's trying to avoid a Randy Moss-situation with Johnny Manziel so he doesn't hold a grudge against him later in his career for the Cowboys not drafting him. Idk, it's hard to understand what goes through Jerry's "40 year-old brain" sometimes, but based on statements from the Round 1 post draft press conference they were NOT considering Johnny Manziel.

It's basic common sense. If you draft someone and then spend the next 3 months lamenting that you are having second thoughts, whatever, how does that help you run your team better.

It is similar to getting married and then saying I was that close to asking the other girl. There is no upside, and when there is not upside, why open yourself to criticism.

It shows a lack of self-awareness and is gratuitous.

There is nothing wrong with complaining. Emotion is a part of being human. Complaining serves as an outlet for stress. Trapping stress inside can have harmful physiological and psychological effects on people.

Humans are intelligent--although everyone is not on the same level of a Sheldon Cooper (lol!). Intelligence allows for the evaluation of how stress affects oneself and can provide options for adequately dealing with it.

Comprehending how to deal with stress is different for everyone, so complaining can continue unabated sometimes as long as... say how long has it been since Dallas last won a Super Bowl?

Nothing he says is good right? Everyday it's a complaint towards Jerry, and his talking.

Everyone says "Jerry just shut up"

Why? Why don't you all "Just shut up"?

Are you the one who has poured billions into the team? Last i checked he has more right to say anything about his team, than any of us.

That's like me going to publix, running into the Owner, President, Vice President, whoever. He is complaining at his employees, and I tell him to shut up.

What? Because I buy groceries, I have rights now? Because you all buy gear and watch the team, you have rights now?

He's got a right to do whatever he wants as the owner of the team.

The fans also have a right to criticize him for what he chooses to do.

As for why fans care what he says, well...the foreseeable future of the Dallas Cowboys resides between his ears. He's the decision maker. He's the one who will dictate direction. You can't be a rational intelligent Cowboys fan without caring about what Jerry is thinking.

BTW, when I say Jerry, I'm talking about the guy who has destroyed this team and all it once stood for.

Alright, you all sold me.

I'm in the "Complain about Jerry" Fan Club now. So what's our next course of action? I'm ready.

I mean I hope complaining all day is not the only thing we hope to accomplish.

Grab a pair of sandals and follow me.

BTW, I could do a better job because you know what I would do as the owner of this team? I'd hire the most qualified personnel guy available to GM my team and then I hold that guy accountable for the results. If he's not getting it done, I'd make a change with another highly qualified candidate.

There would be accountability at the position of General Manager with faces all well versed and successful in personnel long before they got here.

That would be the biggest improvement you could ever make to this team.

Who cares? Jerry is just generating news for talking heads as always.

Exactly. And laughing all the way to the bank when they scurry off to write this nonsense up. He's already said they weren't interested at all. It's either that or he's forgotten what the hell he said.

Lol ok, so lets pretend I believe you. That I believe that you would hire a Gm, and not stick your nose in it.

We all know you hate corners. So lets say the higest rated o lineman is sitting there at our pick, but your Gm is going on and on about the cb and he's going to take him against what your scouts say. Our biggest need is o-line at that point...would you say something or no?

Also don't say that would fall under the category of accountability. Because you haven't seen if the cb works out or not, and you didn't give him a chance to fail.

We will be seeing 10 or more years of ALL PRO level playing from Zack Martin.

Manziel Who????????????????????

I dont care what Jerry said before the draft or after it. Johnny College had zero chance of becoming a Cowboy.

Also heard a comment this morning, just think if Manziel was at Cowboys camp...Vegas is only 3 hour drive away, how many times would he be heading there....and the media backlash...

What backlash? Aside from a few cranks people love Johnny Football.
