Jerry Jones: I was so close to drafting Johnny Manziel

Lots of Aggie and/or Manziel fans out there.
This is CYA with hopes of smoothing over any resentment.

We have Wheeden if Romo goes down, and that's looking iffy. Then we have Callahan when Red goes. We're set aren't we?

It doesn't really matter now, what's done is what's done. Time to see what this team can do right now.

Jerry gets emotional when talking about Manziel. He just feels bond with that player. If I understand Jerry interpretation - Martin was correct pick for status quo. Manziel is correct pick for winning championships. Did I read that correctly? I listed to it twice now.

Which is probably for the best because it means that there are people disagreeing with Jerry.

He will always be Jerry. The guy who cleared the war room and personally made the Quincy Carter pick against the advice of his scouts.

At least now he's not flat out overruling the entire process on his own.

I don't know that I'd be listening to those scouts either. He's got guys standing on the table for Tony Dixon three picks later? This from the brain trust that brought us Dwayne Goodrich the year before with our only high pick?

Sucks getting old, I could have sworn during the draft Jerry said they spent hardly any time considering Manziel.

You know what? You are right....

Keep complaining

So what's the plan?? What is your move to take Jerry down, I'm all ears.

Tell me though.

What will change by huffing and puffing? Will this make the bad man go away?

What will change by anything said here? Maybe we should close the joint down. Last one out hit the lights.

You just asked why Cowboys fans care what the Owner/President/GM has to say about the team.

Why wouldn't they? He's the only opinion that matters with this team.

Nothing he says is good right? Everyday it's a complaint towards Jerry, and his talking.

Everyone says "Jerry just shut up"

Why? Why don't you all "Just shut up"?

Are you the one who has poured billions into the team? Last i checked he has more right to say anything about his team, than any of us.

That's like me going to publix, running into the Owner, President, Vice President, whoever. He is complaining at his employees, and I tell him to shut up.

What? Because I buy groceries, I have rights now? Because you all buy gear and watch the team, you have rights now?

Yes, people have the right to voice an opinion. Just like many people voice there opinions on politics, economics, businesses, etc whether verbal or through commce (stocks, etc) . I also have the right to tell my wife she put on 5 pounds. Prudent people have self-awareness and judgement on when to speak and when to not.

Typically, societies and people that promote limiting opinions do not fair well in history. I would much rather someone try to tell benefits of racism or other bias, then someone covertly sneaking around and cloaking it under veiled innuendo. Makes identification much easier on whose opinions are valid whose aren't

lol, poured billions down into his self esteem....oh wait that was Scotch.

Hangover anywho?

At this point Jerry Jones deserves every criticism and should suffer. Drafting Manziel would have been a perfect kick in the teeth.

Alas there is some small ray of hope taking Zach "the Ambulance Driver" Martin. Have to hand some credit to em' if Zach works out at a high level and McClain can hang.

Some would be unhappy if things turn around....that's not my culture and heritage.

And for the love of god can we please get off the use of the word "rights". Rights are about government oppession and incarceration.

Well, with Cleveland's recent track record on 1st round draft picks, chances are Manziel will be available within a year or two.

Don't look now, by the time Manziel's rookie contract is up, we'll need a QB.

I just don't see the need for any GM to chatter so much - period.

After awhile, all that matters is results...excessive talk is only going to magnify not much has been done.
