Haven't paid attention thus far cause I can't watch. NFLs website is awful in format on mobile and basically all I can see is the score. Not sure if it's a bad thing or not.

He got burned deep on that TD pass to 17. He bit early and got beat deep.

This defense will be worse than last year if that's even possible.

Geez they are putrid.

We're playing zone, behind a bad line, and with two players in the secondary who literally walked in off the street yesterday. One of the big drives was a blown coverage by both of those players. One was a gifted set of downs on 2nd and 20 by BW Webb, who's not going to make the team.

You cannot draw the sorts of conclusions you're looking to draw from the first game of the pre season. You just can't.

What does concern me, though, is how easily most of our DL is just getting pushed around.

The starters in the secondary and two on the DL not playing tonight. This game is good for evaluating individuals on howmthey handled their individual responsibilities. Uisng it as a basis to evaluate the defense as a unity would be stupid.

The guys playing weren't rookies though which is what I commented on. In fact one was one of our offseason signings, that was pumped Mincey. Crawford played, Carter played Durant played all guys who may be starting or be counted on a lot.

I know. They are usually terrible in pre season and then turn it up when it counts.

Good teams have bad win/loss results in the preseason. And they have good ones. Bad teams sometimes win a lot of preseason games. And then sometimes they lose them. You can't draw conclusions based off of performance in the first preseason game. We may indeed stink this year, but it's not going to be because we lost this game badly tonight.

Logic would dictate that a defense that lost its 3 best players from last year and was the worst in the league, would be bad this year likely worse. I've read the exact opposite here.

Ware was not one of our three best players last year. Sean Lee wasn't either. They might have been had they been healthy, but injuries rendered them very ineffective.

You're right except they have a new DC and their defense is younger and the personnel......while we did lose Hatcher, Lee and Ware, Hatcher and Lee were useless in the month of December.

Yep. The team looks like it is the first preseason game. The "sky is falling" brigade is in midseason form, however.
