Notre Dame is the only school in the top 25 not from a power 5 conference.

Well, since they have an affiliation with the ACC, you can almost say that they are associated with a Power Conference for Football.

It differs quite a bit from the coaches poll, which is interesting.

As the OP noted this is the first time Baylor has been a pre-season top ten since they beat #2 Tennessee in the 1957 Sugar Bowl.

doesn't matter, she'll decide.

OU, UCLA, SCar all look overrated to me.

Not sure what Carolina will do this year. They changed the D to a 3-4 because the DC said they didn't have the personnel to run it. The QB throws a great long ball but doesn't have the speed Shaw did. Good RBs, WRs, and DBs. OL should be good, too. Three SEC teams in the top 10, three more 10-20 and 2 20-25.

I don't see a dominant SEC team this year. Might pick Auburn if I had to take an early favorite with Ole Miss right behind.
Lots of those teams will be good but I don't see the experience in key positions to be great.
The team that gets the best QB play probably wins it because there will be 10 good defenses at least.

Bama has a ton of 4 star guys but not sure what they'll get at QB and the CBs aren't as good as they have been traditionally.
By end of the year they may be really good but Florida and Ole Miss early will be a test.
Good lord Bama plays a joke of a schedule though... rofl.
Avoid Both Georgia and SCar and play 3 terrible non-conf opponents and a preseason 8th place Big 12 team in WVU.
If they do lose a game early no idea how they climb back up the rankings.

SCar lost a lot with a very experienced QB and Clowney.
I know they played a lot without Shaw the past couple seasons but not always with great success.
I think they are a year away from being consistent.

Who knows which one but at least one or two will be in the hunt for the whole thing is my guess. I'll still say 5-8 will go to the postseason easily with more in the lower tier games.

No doubt there. The overrating of the SEC will drive 1 or 2 more than should be in but this isn't a season where lots of SEC teams are elite.
More a season where many of them will be good.

Very glad there is a playoff at the end and that it has a strength of schedule component the committee will factor in.

OU announced today that Joe Mixon will be suspended for the entire 2014 Season.

Without Braxton Miller (who I saw in HS) I don't see The Ohio State being a top 5 team.

I'm starting to think you and one of my sons are related in some psychic manner. He knows all the teams and lots of their personnel as well. I don't know how you do it.

I predict the Big 10 will be the Power 5 conference not to have a playoff team in the inaugural tournament.

Oregon/ Stanford, Florida State, OU/ Baylor, Alabama/ Auburn are my pool of who will be the de facto final four.
