Was the hold that stopped the clock on Tyron Smith legit?

I have rewatched that play several times and I do not see a hold. Please tell me the refs did not come up with a "phantom hold" to stop the clock and give Seattle one last chance. Please tell me that is not what happened here.

If it was legit, I got no problem with it. However, if the refs called a phantom hold to intentionally stop the clock and help Seattle................wow, maybe some of the conspiracy theorist are on to something........LOL

Has anybody else seen a legit hold on that play? And if refs are going to start doing this, we are going to have to start taking a knee because 1 min on the clock is more than enough time to go down the field if you are playing Aaron Rogers for example. I would just hate to lose a game because a phantom hold stopped the clock.

So has anybody else seen a hold on that play, was it legit?

I say it's a hold

I want to preface this by saying that I haven't watched the play over...

There is a very good chance there was no hold. Linemen are taught specifically in those situations not to do anything that will stop the clock even if it means getting beat. So either Tyron made a huge gaff or the refs ticky-tacked a penalty on.

It was a hold. For some reason Tyron keeps forgetting what they are teaching. He did the same thing last year against the Lions.

No it wasn't a hold. We some questionable calls but that is par for the course. This teams beats the other team, their 12th man, and the refs. A running game travels well...

Was hard to see it on the film but that still does show it a bit. On the replay by the way I could see Tyron favoring that ankle.

They can call holding on almost every snap if they wanted to. My beef is that you hardly ever see a hold being called in a situation that a team is obviously running the clock down as far as they can.

I'm not a tinfoil hat kind of guy, but it was a little suspicious to me.

He got a hold against the Lions b/c the rb went the wrong way. OL always have a hold on the jersey. You go the wrong way on a play where your job is to do nothing but go up the gut and you'll screw a smart OT who knows he can grab inside.

I do question the timing of the call since they let holding slide half the time.

If that's play side, they gotta call that. Good job with the still.

It was not a hold. And I don't want to hear another word otherwise. Case dismissed.

lame call by a lame ref. you want to call something, call a late hit on wagner. romo had completed his entire follow thru and was pretty much staring down the ball by the time wagner hit him.

I don't understand how they can decline the penalty and still get the benefit of the stopped clock. If they decline the penalty they should at least run the 25 second play clock. If they accept the penalty, then Dallas gets 3rd down over.

I Guess it does look like a hold. I'm surprised. Should've taken a knee. No sense in taking a chance there.

There is holding every play. I would
Like to see it in motion.

I didnt even know who it was on, but when i watched the game again i thought it was a hold.

holding is such a joke

when I remember how many times Deware was TACKLED and nothing called....

Oh tackled? Please try to contain you're over the top the world is out to get us spiel. I'm sure he was not the only defender who was upset that a hold was not called. Should I put it in CAPS?

Thanks for the still shot, I had not seen this angle.

We really do need to start taking a knee in these situations.

I rarely have seen teams take a knee when they know they won't be able to run the clock down to zero or near zero. You run the ball to take as much time off the clock as you can.
