Late hits ok on Romo

I don't know if theres a conspirancy or not. But what can't be argued is the inconsistency of the referees. A roughing the passer penalty called in a early game is ignored Sunday night and called again Monday night. Or vice versa.

I've seen obvious roughing the passer calls on Romo ignored. I've also seen a couple of occasions where roughing was called that had no business being called. But on balance, refs seem to look the other way when Romo is getting hammered more often than not, it seems to me.

But the inconsistency of the refs is the bigger issue, IMO.

I don't see it. Romo is treated just like any QB in the league. I understand there are a great deal of worshipers out there and of course their perspective is skewed, but among average fans I don't think that conspiracy exists.

I don't believe there is a conspiracy but Tony does take late hits with no calls.

Not often but it happens.

He's one very tough guy.

I think it's more often than not, I like to think there's not a bias against him but it is very strange. Perhaps he doesn't whine about it after each hit like a Brady or Manning does.

The officiating across the league has been especially poor this season. Wildly inconsistent.

I understand what you're saying but at the same time the refs are human. And inconsistencies is something that comes with human error.

Peyton throws the ball much quicker than Tony. He rarely even gets touched. The ball is long gone.

Yup and like Brees he never gets called for grounding. So many times he is in the pocket and just throws it down or away without a receiver close.

Whether it's conspiracy or not, I think it's time for our team and our coaches to start making bigger deal when he gets touched, if it can possibly be construed as an illegal hit, we need to be making the case, loudly. He's not only the franchise and we're (at least for now) a contender, but there's a health issue with his back surgery. You know other teams are targeting it to knock him out and try to make us one-dimensional. I'll take a couple shoves after the whistle and a scrum or two here to make the point that it's not going to be tolerated. If the refs think not flagging it will result in possibly losing control of the game, it's human nature to look more carefully at every hit he takes.

Peyton rarely moves out of the pocket. I don't know about the "nobody calls him for grounding" stuff but he has a super quick release. That's his game.

Commanders were purposely trying to hurt our players. i'm surprised there hasn't been any punishment for meriweather's cheap shot on dez.

Here's one of those multi-step +0.5 seconds after the ball is out hits. Romo's even relaxed his non-throwing hand. St. Louis ball:

Perfect example. Everybody's back is turned and they're looking at Murray, but, had Tyron seen it, give me a retaliation penalty there and I'd be ok with it. Of course, I'd rather see the penalties happen after we're in a hole from a holding call or whatever and not on the back end of a big game, but you get the idea, at least.
