Late hits ok on Romo

digusting.

the problem is jerry and jason are way too nice when it comes to this stuff.

Someone in the front office needs to take the fine and make it a public issue. Say what you will but Brady's public whining after borderline hits works in his favour eventually.

Perfect example. Everybody's back is turned and they're looking at Murray, but, had Tyron seen it, give me a retaliation penalty there and I'd be ok with it. Of course, I'd rather see the penalties happen after we're in a hole from a holding call or whatever and not on the back end of a big game, but you get the idea, at least.

Free saw it and did nothing. Frederick, Leary or Martin would have leveled the guy.

The hit in the article happened about 0.27 seconds after the throw; that part is fine, you can't stop yourself in that tenth of a second of recognition cushion. That he doesn't let go and tries to cut Romo's legs out at the knee (0.4 seconds) with the elbow is where the penalty discussions begin. That's only on the edges of a penalty and hardly the worst that can be cited.

The ref doesn't turn his head back to the QB until about 0.5 seconds after the ball was out, which contributes.

OL needs to start getting nasty when they see this. And Garrett should be throwing fits and getting in the ears of the refs when he sees it. This is serious business, especially with Romo's back. It's unacceptable. Garrett needs to start calling stuff out like this in the PCs as well.

Does anyone think it has to do with mobile QB's?

Pocket passers seem to get the flag more often than a mobile QB.

I have felt that Romo gets hit late without a flag quite a few times.

Good point. Brady & Peyton are definitely pocket passers and get their share of " gimme flags"

I've said this many times .P. Manning and Tom Brady are treated differently than other QBs and Romo is one of them.

Not sure if this was posted already. Sorry If so. This goes in the category of past ridiculous and into what gets some fans saying there is a conspiracy.
I don't think there's a conspiracy but there are some calls or non calls that are hard for me to believe there is a strong bias.

I don't think there is a conspiracy, but I do believe some refs are biased. A conspiracy would be multiple people getting together in an attempt to make something happen. A bias can just be 1 person acting alone.

I think it was last week when there was a late hit on Romo that was impossible to miss and was really late. You could count about 3 steps by the defender after the ball was gone.

A lot of it is incompetence. NFL refs just aren't that good on average.

I don't see it. Romo is treated just like any QB in the league. I understand there are a great deal of worshipers out there and of course their perspective is skewed, but among average fans I don't think that conspiracy exists.

No way he gets the benefit of late hits like Brady does.

nice catch on that one

That's what I don't understand, you would think Jerry being a businessman would want to protect his $100 mm investment. I watch a lot of football and I have never seen a another QB take as much punishment after the pass as Romo does. It is just odd to me that neither Jason or jerry wouldn't complain to the league office or the media if that is not working. I find it appalling.

call it incompetence, I call it something else. If it was incompetence, it would happen to Brady, and Rodgers, and Meaning, and Brees, etc.

Seems like many refs tend to be more assertive calling late hits when someone they consider an "elite" QB is involved. It does seem like Romo doesn't actually fit many refs perception of being in that class just yet (judging by their reluctance to award roughing the passer penalties in his favor.) QBs like Brady, Manning and the like often appear to get preferential treatment in that regard. I believe it's human nature for them to favor the fan favorites.

Here's one of those multi-step +0.5 seconds after the ball is out hits. Romo's even relaxed his non-throwing hand. St. Louis ball:

HAHAHA. The guy even throws his hands up afterwards BEGGING for the flag.

I feel other teams realize the lack of calls for Romo and take advantage. Like that play. That dude could've easily pulled up. He chose to take a shot. Noooooo way he would have vs Most QB's.

I think Romo might get the least "late hit" calls of any QB in the NFL.

I watch a lot of football, and most QB's get the benefit of the doubt. Romo gets the call about 1/3 of the time other teams do, I really hate to say there's some agenda here but it just doesn't make sense.
