I don't want to start a argument. Only want to ask a question.

Why do we see a fumble as a much more sinful turnover?

Murray has 3 on the year to go along with 1,233 rushing yards and 60 first downs. ( I'll take that and SMH)

Yet he is not to be trusted.

Just a side note. To go along with the conversation Tony has had 2 fumbles to go along with 6 ints, that's 8 total and it is discussed but in a different tone.

Because fumbles are more rare. Some running backs go seasons without having any or at least very few. When it's rare in a game that you go without a fumble, there's an issue.

Well I believe alot has to do with the nature of an interception vs a fumble. Much more goes into a turnover by interception than a fumble. The pass catchers route, was the ball deflected? was the qb hurried or tricked into a throw? Or did a DB jump a route and hit a home run on his gamble. A fumble in MOST cases is a case of hold the dang ball high and tight and it is far more unlikely to happen. Its much more fundamental.

Fumbles are always the fault of the ball carrier...there are dozens of factors that can contribute to interceptions.
i just looked a rushing fumbles..forgive me. However, your statement is not totally true. Are you going to put the fault on the running back if he is ingauged with a defensive player and the second tackler puts his helmet on the ball to knock it out on purpose? Not many folks could hold that one. also, punching the ball out is dirty in my book, but part of the game. If the defender misses it should be a personal foul.

changes games...take a shot and if you miss you pay. 15 yards.

In a lot of cases interceptions are out of your control - the WR runs the wrong route; you're hit RIGHT as you release and the ball is tipped.... many interceptions are not due to any fault of the QB - although, many are. With many of Murray's fumbles they have been because he refuses to go down and eat the ball - IE take the yardage you have. Go down and live to run another day. That's just my opinion. But I believe that this is fixable and is not a deal-breaker when it comes to Murray who I trust as my number 1 RB and hope we can keep next season.

There's also risk/reward. Passing plays on average gain more yardage and so warrant heightened risk of turnover.

He has 5 lost fumbles and the ball has come loose in his hands some other times.

I'm guessing turnovers are bad no matter how they occur. Romo takes a lot of heat here too (at times), so don't know much about a different tone.

There are certainly times when you have to tip your hat to a defensive player for making a good play, and knocking the ball loose. The majority of the time though fumbles can be attributed to the runner carrying the ball too low. So yes I often will blame the runner in that scenario. Wen engaged with a defender the first responsibility of the runner is to hang onto the ball.

Most fumbles are within your control, its about knowing that you have accomplished all you can accomplish on that one play especially when you already have 1st down. Hey if he is fighting for the last inch on a 4th down play and has not got the 1st down and fumble oh well you win some you lose some. But if youhave picked up the 1st and really all you are doing is being "greedy" at that point and get stacked up and stripped that is on you. Remember a few years ago when Romo was getting all those wierd INTs, you know the int off of the heel of witten's foot, or the numerous one's where his receiver let it bounce off their shoulder pads into the hands of a DB. I mean romo has thrown some dumb passes but the majority of his INTs were weird flukey ones as are most good QB ints.

I guess as football goes...we kinda cringe and discuss ints, sacks, fumbles by our QB. However, there is a small crack in the window for a running back that does the same.

That was the one reason for this question. does not matter at the end of the day who it was.....the team no longer has possession.

Just trying to understand why it was more of a foul?...who done it, and does it really matter?

Not knowing when to quit is a big problem for Murray. Living for another play instead of risking a turnover is something he hasn't learned yet.

I disagree he took a lot of flack last year when he pulled up a yard early on long runs along the sideline and stepped out. He was getting lambasted here for making a "business" decision after 20 yard gains.
