We won't see an "official" passing title given to Romo until after tonight's game; though I believe it's statistically impossible for either Ben Roethlisberger or Andy Dalton to catch him.

But is this an actual award that gets handed out or is it just something we're calling it?

It's not an award more than a statistical recognition- like Murray winning the rushing title. He gets no palpable "reward" other than seeing his name atop the stats list.

I see. It will be interesting to see if there is ever any media mention of this.

Right, but where does it mention a "passing title" there?
The passing leader at the end of the season wins the mythical "passing title" in the same way that the rushing leader wins the "rushing title."

"Young won a record six NFL passing titles."

"Staubach won further NFL passing titles in 1973, 1978 and 1979, but was never voted to an All-Pro team."

"Baugh won a record-setting six NFL passing titles..."

My guess is it'll be mentioned once and then instantly paired with a reference to how the Cowboys ran the ball more and threw less this year.

Nothing left for Romo to do but just continue to prove the critics wrong.

While the MVP vote is a matter of opinion, the passing title is based strictly on performance.

Romo 113.2
Rodgers 112.2

It's the fifth time a Cowboy has led the league in passer rating.

1971 Staubach
1973 Staubach
1978 Staubach
1979 Staubach
2014 Romo

Nice, what was Peyton Manning's and Brady's?

That site they linked wasn't updated since 2007. Young led NFL history with 6. Peyton only had 3. But I'm sure he's had more since 2007. Rodgers wasn't even mentioned.

Oh, I thought you meant all-time, not this year.

Congrats to Romo, if Rogers can be MVP then Romo certainly deserves it just as much if not more.
