The ironic part of the Ware release

Yeah you must not be watching the whole league. He faded last couple of months of the season just like he did against us. He struggled last night against a LT Mincey had his way with.

I don't think we would have won with Ware. He's basically shot, and I don't know if he was a fit for our 4-3 scheme.
But I can't hate on Ware. He wanted to get paid, and I can't blame him. And he thought he was going to a team that had a shot at the Super Bowl.

I respect the guy for what he did for us, but this defence would not have been the same with him in it. The WE-fence just had a bunch of hard working guys who no one expected to do anything, relying on Ware for the pass rush would have changed the vibe. Heck, maybe we can't afford guys like Mincey and McClain if he's still here

Why does everyone still talk about this dude? He's not a playmaker and faded at the end of most seasons and just disappeared. He did the same for Denver. So how would that benefit us? He didn't do anything for years here.

One of the most overrated players I can remember.

Peyton getting hurt was a huge blow. Anyone that watches football could tell he wasn't right the last 4-6 weeks

If he was healthy I think they go back to the SB and get beat by Seattle again

Ware did the smart thing after Dallas made it clear they weren't going to pay him 12m

Had he stayed we very well might have won it all. He went to Denver for the money and a Super Bowl shot, had he taken less money he'd might still be playing and with the coaching staff gone and Manning's future in question we have a much better shot at getting a ring next year.

Yeah, the Bronco's are officially in rebuilding mode.

They're old (in places), expensive (in places) and have several key FA's coming up.

Ware was a good player here, but lacked the mean streak and edge the defense played with at times. I think his presence makes the defense softer.

This defense lacked talent, but not effort. They emptied the bucket each week.

He did the right thing, moving back to OLB. Had he stayed to play DE, I feel certain he'd have been injured.

He'd still be our best pass rusher, but he doesn't play the way Rod needs....and he just wasn't cut out to be a 4-3 DE in my opinion

yup, one guy wouldnt amde this team, i bet he would have scored a TD as well? some people and their logic. Yuuuuuuup, would have won it with Ware, who STILl would have been asked to do to much. But lets forget that part.

We keep ware and we probably don't trade up in the draft for Lawrence. The last few weeks I would argue Lawrence > ware as a pure pass rusher.

Way to miss the point.

This is not a we should have kept him thread, it is he could have helped us go farther and Denver is imploding as we speak and both teams finished 12-4 and got beat in the divisional round thread.

How could he have helped though?

I don't think it was ironic. Nobody thought we were getting better by releasing him-- it was a fiscal decision.

But I don't think he would have helped us get any farther either.

Ware did nothing late in the season. Was not worth the money they paid him. Good decision to let him walk. Get younger, don't overpay old underachieving players. Getting these old guys out has allowed younger guys to step up and play well and have voices in the lockerroom.
