Netflix tv shows worth a marathon run?

Judging from the comments on their web page a lot of people feel that way. There seems to be fewer commercials with the new management and they are pretty short. Some of the shows they have just aren't available anywhere else unless you want to pay as much as $80 per season to buy the DVD's.

They also have original content with no commercial interruptions.

The Americans is on Amazon Prime

Thanks. Bought the first season for $20 on demand.

So. Saw 3 episodes.

It's good. I like it.

So, the only knock that I read about the show is... In lots of episodes they are close to getting caught but they don't. They say FBI should be able to put 2 and 2 together.

Gonna check out other recommendations in this thread soon.

Keep em coming! :)

When I tore my calf back this passed summer and couldn't move, I watched all five seasons NetFlix has of Vampire Diaries. I watched all 89 episodes, from beginning to end. lol. I've seen them all before, but it was great to go back and watch it all again.

They have 4 or 5 seasons up of Parenthood, and I figure next time I tear something, lol, I will sit down and watch all of those episodes, too. Tomorrow night is the series finale, so hopefully next fall they will carry the entire series.

Criminal Minds and House are also on NetFlix, and they are definitely worth a binge watch. My kids are always watching these old episodes. They are really good shows.

First you can see all that's available to stream here: http://instantwatcher.com/

American Horror Story
Top of the Lake (You'll NEVER see the ending coming)
Penny Dreadful
Luther
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

Trailer Park Boys, Portlandia (underrated), Delocated (relatively unknown dark comedy), Louie (comedic drama) and Sunny in Philadelphia are great comedy series with all of their episodes on Netflix. If looking for character progression, Louie would probably be your best bet.

House of Cards, X-Files (if never watched initially), and Dexter are good dramas (many more out there but have limited exposure)

Fun/Educational: Ted Talks and An Idiot Abroad (created by Ricky Gervais)

I've binged on all of the above @ one point or another:D

They are rebooting xfiles.

Between the two I preferred Fringe.

Are they really? Assuming with a new cast? I would think a lot of the originality from the old show has waned with all the supernatural dramas that have been released since then. Never seen Fringe, will have to give it a try.

You know what. If you xfiles then fringe is for you. Nice character building. First 3 seasons are great. Each of the season finales are really cool. The whoah factor.

Seasons 4 and 5. Still pretty good. If you became a fan you would finish series.

I believe the are rebooting with Scully and Mulder. Not sure how I feel about that.

Always like Scully. :)

If you like the X-Files you can watch the original one, Kolchak: The Night Stalker on Netflix. Also, Firefly and The Tick are available.

I watched the Netflix original Marco Polo the other day. It's not bad. As Idgit mentioned Peaky Blinders if pretty cool as well.

I like Kolchak, it's too bad they didn't make more episodes.

For shows I've only seen available Netfix, I liked Derek, and Black Mirror.

Peep Show (hilarious, dry british sitcom)

Generation War (WW2 mini series from the perspective of 4 german friends)

The Assets (Outstanding series that unfortunately got cancelled, its about an American Spy in the CIA during the cold war, true story and fascinating. 8 episodes that wraps up in its one and only season. I would have loved to have seen more stories from that era). If you like The Americans, I think you'll like this even more.

Oh, then will definitely have to check it out (orig. cast). I guess Duchovney and Anderson aren't exactly movie stars so why not do another hit TV show. Loved Scully too:D Will definitely give Fringe a try, thanks for the recommendation.

Have to agree there. Was really looking forward to the first one too but was just too choppy and the story not all that appealing considering how much the show developed on (bees as carriers?) I always liked the more "monster-demonic creature-cultist" type episodes more so than the conspiracy angle.

I love longmire

Me too. It got cancelled but Netflix picked it up. There were plenty of viewers but they just weren't in the right age group for advertisers so it should be a good fit with Netflix since they aren't as concerned with advertisers.

I saw this was in 74', does it stand the test? Even X Files didn't really stand the test after a recent binge on some of their stuff. Funny how that works with some of your faves as a kid, etc. Are you talking about The Tick with Puddy?
