Same gamble as giving a back who just had close to 500 touches in my opinion

But it's not a one or the other situation. I don't have a problem with DM walking and not signing AP.

And btw, Murray did have a lot of carries last year, but it wasn't close to 500. By your logic if he had close to 500 then he had close to 285.

I'm perfectly fine with Murray leaving. His fumbles at key points in a game is all I need.

Our OL creates holes, not the RB. We need a RB who is gone once he gets through the line. Murray wasn't able to do that. He left way too many TD's on the field.

Keep in mind the Cowboys will have extra mid round picks in the 2016 draft for losing all these free agents.

I may be wrong, but I don't believe a Peterson trade would factor into our comp picks because he's not an UDFA and we will have given up compensation in the form of a draft pick already.

I do believe that is correct.

I believe this discredits Murray more than he deserves. Yes, we have a very good line, but running backs don't luck into 1,800 yards rushing. If Randle ends up being our No. 1 plan to replace Murray, I will be very upset.

I am not discrediting Murray at all. But I do think with another runner and this Oline and a similar commitment to the run, we could still see 1200 -1300 yards and 10 tds out of the RB. If I said we could get 1600+ (and it didn't come true) then maybe it could be considered discrediting Murray. I am hoping Randle is NOT our replacement by the way.

Murray cost us the green bay game with that fumble and he doesnt even try to improve it. First game of the year he fumbles and last game of the year; same trash carrying the ball ike a breakbasket

AP is a future Hall of Famer enough said. There is no RB on this planet in his class.

yes he is a future HOF player he is also a man who is about to hit 30 and based on reports is not looking to give any discount. If Dallas is not going to pony up for a RB still in his prime they would be stupid to pony up on a guy who is on the downhill side of his career. His 2013 season was very human like when he rushed for 1,266 yards and fumbled it 5 times. AP has been a great back through out his career but he is still a man

Yeah, let's wait and see the "bank breaking" deal Kelly gives him. You make it sound like he wanted Calvin Johnson money. $5 million per is just insulting. Not nearly as insulting as the stupidity I'm seeing on this board this morning, but hey.

Where are you getting 5?
I heard Stephen said he'd go 6, Jerry said he'd go 7.

dunno. when so far the only *real* threat to take murray *IS* the division rival, where are all the other teams lining up for murray?

the colts needs help at RB more than anyone to make a run. they never even sniffed his way.
jax? heard they were, never saw it.
outside that, for someone who's the best player in the league, he sure got a pretty low overall turnout for his services considering he had to call philly to even start down that path.

i'm not trying to lowball murray or take away from his services, but this just seems like you crapped out something painful and are in the mood to take it out on your favorite whipping boy, regardless of the excuse.

could that be it?

Agree. About to post something similiar. Only teams mentioned are Oak, Jax, Philly. Contending teams with money to spend (Indy, Cards) don't even call. Dallas is playing it smart, take the money and use it on defense, find a replacement in the draft. Love what Murray did, but he is not elite and doesn't deserve elite money at 27 years of age. Sorry. Good luck to him in Philly.

Go to a division rival? And the Eagles?! I no longer care for you Mr. Murray. I hope your replacement breaks 2000 yds and doesn't fumble in the playoffs. Oh and have fun playing with Mark Sanchez cause Bradford will not last a whole year.

And get ready to be booed at the drop of a hat. You're an Eagle now.

I'm only posting this because my co-worker says he's familiar with DeMarco Murray's agent through sources etc.. For whatever it's worth... he's signing with the Eagles now 10:30 am est 5/42mil 18 guaranteed. He was reading from a text. Seems legit.

8.4 million a year for 5 years with 18 guaranteed .... Birds must really want him...

Randle popped off a bunch of long runs with his limited touches. A little more speed, and Murray would have had 3,000 yards.

And three years older with the best years of his career behind him. It'd be a big gamble to give a 30 yr old RB a huge 3-4 year contract.

No more of a 'gamble' than paying a back with Murray's injury history and one great year.

If you ask outside of Dallas or around the league, nobody is taking Murray over Peterson.

You're getting all these comp picks next year and you get Peterson. It allows you to improve Romo's supporting cast to win it now, while also looking long term with the extra draft picks.

I'll be seriously disappointed if this doesn't happen.

A source to Murray's agent told me 5/42mil 18 guaranteed... signing with Eagles now.

and i found this quote on ESPN:

Aside from the contract, the Eagles are the most appealing to Murray because of his belief in their chance to win.

not sure if true or writers opinion, but BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

ha.

Again I have no issue letting Murray go, but this lack of any clear plan to improve this porous defense is worrisome.
