greg hardy's twitter followers before signing:

after signing:
7,537 as of 3:50pm on 3/18/15

and climbing!!

One year is disappointing. Wouldn't be surprised if he's on a mid tier team next year making 110 mill.

this is whats reassuring me too. i think we know what we're doing. i think if he tears it up and is a good fit in our system we wouldnt let that walk away easy.

Agree. The bucs last year thought michael Johnson was a fit and gave him a big contract. Where did that get them.

Sheard was about it of those that were available. The top ones were not going to get away from their teams.

OK then. Stop pretending like we just watched 100 options fly off the shelf.

We got a team friendly rental of the best pure pass rusher on the market.

One year is better than no years when the team is poised to win today.

Fans are so whiney!

Why didn't we sign him to a multi year sea for 3 Cole beasly money!!?!?

Our front office are idiots.

Don't get it confused. People that say Hardy wasn't looking for a long term deal are wrong. Of course he wants one. He just didn't think any team would go there right now to the numbers he wants. So this is why they were focused on just one year. Had the Cowboys given him a competitive multi-year offer with a lot of guaranteed money he'd have signed it quickly.

They chose to be conservative. I think it was a mistake. We shall see.

Interesting perspective and one that I agree with. He's gonna be a mad dog for us and I bet he comes very close to maxing his potential incentives. We were in a position to lock him up long term and we didn't. I'm sure he would have bit at something reasonable. Something that will most likely be a higher number next year. Now we're in a state of limbo...

But, at least we're in the pole position to retain his services. We'll have to see how it all pans out.

Mara is probably going to have interest in this now...probably getting himself in charge of his discipline!

we need details big time because 11 million sounds like alot of coin for guy who is going to be suspended atleast 4 games. I just want to know how much is guaranteed for this year.

If he's suspended 4 or more games, there's no way he's reaching that 11 million. I don't know all the details, but I'm pretty sure there's more to be had for each game he plays/performs well in.

I want to know why moral and legal issues can be intetjected on other players but not him.

Because we've beaten it to death and because some posters can't handle discussing those issues without getting nasty and insulting. :(

I really wanted him long term, but after seeing those contract details, I'm completely happy with it. The only problem will be that if he plays lights out we will likely lose him and be back in the same hole...but at least we'll have cap space!

For sure. My problem is that I think our FO may have been too concerned with minimizing risk rather than maximizing reward. I'd have mortgaged a contract or two in order to offer this guy significant guaranteed money. In return, he'd likely have been willing to lock up for a few more years at a lesser rate than what it will cost us to extend once he goes out and does what we all expect him to do.

Define significant. Mario Williams got $40m guaranteed a few years ago. I'm sure a 6 year $110m monstrosity like Watt would have gotten him to sign but I also think you would be nuts to give it to Hardy given his circumstances.

His agent is Drew Rosenhaus and you don't use him unless you are trying to maximize your earning potential.

How much money will be saving next year if the Cowboys take on Romo's 27.5 million cap hit this year? I read some place that if the Cowboys do that his cap hit in 2016 would be only 8.5 million. Maybe they will have enough for Hardy and Dez with this and the cap being raised.

i' m not good with cap stuff, for the people that are, are we in Cap hell next year too? like if he tears it up will there be no way for us to even compete to sign him?
