New puppy, training tips?

Love, Praise, and Reward.

It is good advice, .. but it is also the name of a great book on training puppies.

Got a German Shepherd Labrador mix last week and for the most part it's been smooth she knows sit and come but the problem we're having right now is the play biting our 5 year old daughter, any tips on stopping this?

We just got a new puppy as well, shes 13 weeks now. She's a miniature goldendoodle.

I have trained several puppies, each with success.

I have always tried to teach them on the premise that, .. I would reward them for their good behavior, instead of punishing them for bad behavior.

I always teach and train them what I WANT them to do in each situation, and not scold them or discipline them for something they did that was unacceptable.

I'm not sure dogs get the whole, "I did something bad so I got disciplined" perspective.

Be patient, .. and teach them what you WANT them to do, .. don't expect them to figure that out. LOL

thats great advice. does someone think a dog know it did something bad an hour ago or even 30 seconds ago?

I think people trying to humanize dogs is a problem too. I just know some weird pet owners
