I have for a while been thinking that a lot of this is the owners working to weaken the union before the next cba. Making the UNION defend abusers again and again.

I've been saying that for weeks. This is high stakes and it's over the next CBA, not the 'Boys, not Hardy. The agenda is weakening the Union for the next CBA negotiations.
I even believe I got a small amount of ridicule over it. Maybe not... I've lost track of it all.

There is no question the league gave Hardy a 10 game suspension knowing full well it will get reduced. But by going the route they did now instead of looking soft on domestic violence it's someone else who is lowering the number of games he gets suspended.

exactly

That's exactly it. The NFL gets to look tough and avoid the PR nightmare they had last year. All the negative publicity the league got from the Ray Rice debacle came from the perception that they were too lenient on him. Ironically, suspending Ray Rice for 2 games was actually on the heavy side when compared to the previous 50 incidents during the Goodell tenure.

If the judge/arbitrator decide the NFL has to apply pre-Ray Rice punishment levels, then it will be only 2 games. My money is on 4 because I think any judge will want to be sensitive to the potential backlash.

Where the league is screwing up is they are giving punishment to innocent people in the court of law.

If the court finds them guilty then have at it but the NFL has no business handing down punishments to players with no charges.
That just won't fly. According to that logic, they couldn't do anything to Ray Rice and this whole crapstorm started when people got upset that they gave Rice only 2 games.

its not going to be 6 games - and I doubt it will even be 4. doty will ***** slap the NFL once again if it goes that far and they know it. so I am betting it will be 2.

This is what I said early on in this thread no more than 2 games.

You're absolutely right. And they're abusing the nation's legal system in the process too and wasting plenty of time and money. Just because they think they can. And if enough people in power take a serious look at what the NFL is doing, the league may ultimately be very sorry that they tried to play around like they were above the law.

It will take a massive scandal for the US congress to get involved.

ray rice pleaded guilty. so he was not innocent in any way shape or form.
Not true. Ray Rice pleaded Not Guilty and had charges dropped contingent on attending a pretrial diversionary program.

That's cleaner than Hardy, who was actually found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt but then had charges dropped on appeal when the victim refused to cooperate further.

Based on what?

I believe he physically abused that woman. I don't think his career should be over, but I think he needs to be suspended for the year in order to go thru counseling properly and to hopefully break this pattern of behavior for him in the future.

He was already suspended for roughly an entire season already. So you want another?

I see as usual the local patriot sh ill is about as accurate as can be expected. Hardy was found guilty by ONe single Judge KNOWN to virtually only ever listen to the womens side of the story-and this in what other states would call preliminary court. THe DA had so little faith in the case that he dumped it; he could have forced the woman to testify but she was - once again something you want to ignore- as about as reliable as Bill Bellicek claiming he never cheated.

you want him to be guilty so therefore he is. I think it was a fight and she was nuts and he probably went too far in response. that to me is not abuse. but then you probably are among the politically correct that always believe the woman no mater what

He had a pattern of this? I thought I heard this was the first trouble he has been in? What else did he do, can you post a link?

Yeah, that's me. I must have been dreaming all of the arguments that I've gotten into with people over the years of how false accusations of rape are quite common and how a false accuser should receive the same penalty as an actual rapist.

Yup, always believing the woman no matter what.

This from the guy who said Ray Rice pleaded guilty. You were about as accurate as we expected. :lmao2:

Yes, we all know it was a bench trial. What part of he was "found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt but then had charges dropped on appeal when the victim refused to cooperate further" do you not understand?
