Realistic fallback RB trade option

If we don't like what we see in training camp, here's a preliminary list of guys we might make some calls for:

Matt Forte (contract year, new regime, and just drafted Langford and signed Jacquizz Rodgers and still have Kadeem Carey from last year; would be perfect one-year rental)
Christine Michael (uber talented, SEA just resigned Lynch to a big deal and have Turbin as backup)
Stevan Ridley (NYJ just traded for Stacy and have ivory. Ridley coming off ACL but should be fine by mid season. Cheap contract)
Khiry Robinson (NO resigned Ingeam and signed spiller)
Isaiah Crowell or Terrance West (CLE just drafted Duke and may not want to carry 3 RBs, none of whom play special teams)
Bryce Brown (very talented former Eagle, but bit of a head case. BUF traded for McCoy, still had F Jax, and drafted Karlos Williams)

Why put Ridley over Ivory? Think they are more likely to move Chris.

Bears very unlikely to trade Forte, and Christine Michael is the future in Seattle (Lynch only signed a one year deal and they've purposefully been saving C. Mike for years), but I bet it's pretty good odds that one of Ridley, West or Brown gets cut somewhere along the way. I wouldn't trade a pick for anyone of these guys, unless it's a conditional 7th.

Knowshown Moreno, Ben Tate, Bilal Powell are guys on the street. Wouldn't have to give up a pick for them.

All interesting names...

3 names that wouldn't need to be traded for:

-Steven Jackson
-Knowshon Moreno
-Chris Johnson

Moreno tore his ACL last October, so it's been 6 months since it was repaired and we have another 3 months before training camp.

Chris Johnson averaged 4.3 ypc last season for the Jets.

Steven Jackson average 3.7 ypc behind a dreadful Falcon OL.

I would hope we bring in Jackson at some point.

Sure if the Boys don't like RWilliams then a trade might be a need. Doubt we carry 4 rb's. 3rd will come down to RWilliams and Dunbar.

Patriots won the Superbowl with SIX running backs throughout the year, the panic about the need for going out for a running back is getting ridiculous,,, the Cowboys have a 1st rounder in Mcfadden, a 2nd rounder in Williams, a 5th rounder in Randle and a free agent signing in Dunbar...and the Cowboys signed a developmental back in Days out of GT last night as a UDFA...I think the Cowboys will be fine....

But for a guy who's had some success in the league and he's a decent receiver and he blocks... I don't think he's bad option if his knee is OK.

Sure.by the end of preseason we should have a concrete idea on how good the 3 guys are running behind our oline.

Moreno might make sense in this offense. Not a fan of his open field ability but is a yard gainer, not horrible in short yardage. Intrigued by the UDFA prospect Smith- he has great lean like Murray, decent speed in the open field.
