So I met someone last Friday while out at a techno event...we shared a vibe and exchanged contact information, and that was it.

Since then, we've been talking and I get the feeling we have alot in common aside from being single and liking similar music.

We live about 45 minutes to an hour from each other. I'm typically only downtown once a month or so, usually for something music or sports related.

There is an event I was planning to go to on the 29th with similar music as where we first met, but also feel like I should find a place to be able to talk to her face to face with less noise beforehand. I asked her what her schedule looked like on the 29th, and she hinted she didn't have anything planned yet, so I take that as a good sign :)

Its been awhile since I've put myself out there or even gone on anything resembling a date...I'm thinking probably best to keep it something chill and simple like grabbing a beer or coffee. Should I mention the event I was planning to go to anyways that evening?

Your boss will not be happy with you dating someone else. Call 9-1-1 if you arrive home to find a rabbit boiling in a pot on your stove.

Horseback riding can make for a nice first date. I took a girl horseback riding on a first date once it was fun until I ran out of quarters. :)

It is a great sign, you should do something interactive before the event like wine, beer, or hit a local distillery for tastings. Low pressure environment that has you both sharing opinions. Something where you can make jokes and discuss the experience together. You can do the music thing after once you guys feel more comfortable with each other. Another great date idea is ghost hunting tours. Same concept. Go big or go home. You are the prize Stryker. Confidence is key. Be yourself.

I would take her to a bar.

Get extremely drunk. There's only one thing a girl finds more attractive than that, and that is the next step.

Pick a fight with somebody to show her how manly you are. You'll want to pick somebody smaller than you though, so you're guaranteed to win.

After this continue drinking so you can show her that getting in a fight is just another day in the life of Stryker, and it doesn't phase you. At this moment you'll want to reveal something extremely personal about yourself. Something the average person wouldn't share when getting to know someone. Don't be afraid to cry while doing it. This will show her that not only are you manly, but you're willing to be vulnerable as well. Women love a man that cries.

There's nothing people love more than hearing others talking about themselves. Make sure to talk about yourself and only yourself. DON'T EVEN BOTHER ASKING ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT HER. It's all about you and how awesome you are, and how lucky she would be to have you. Don't be afraid to point this out to her even. In fact I would encourage it.

By this point she'll more than likely want to go back to her place. I'm sure you can figure out the rest.

So you asked her if she was free the 29th, said yes, then u came here to ask about first dates and left her hanging? Smoooth...

Nope, I mentioned that I was going to be in the city again on the 29th to see a similar music event, and was trying to gauge whether she'd want to do something before that...so that's what I'm trying to plan.

I just hope you don't ask her to meet you under a bridge somewhere.

29th of May is a Friday.
Low key dinner before event.
Google search the city. Get some information on places and timing. Ask again for dinner date and event out with.
Ask about her choice of types of food she likes.
Book it and get right back to her.

Give her a single red rose when you meet her for the date...

Skip the rose, your giving her a little chore for the evening. Like that seinfeld episode where the dude gives elaine a flower, she thinking, im supposed to carry this around all night?

My co-worker is really into Tinder. He took some skank out to Outback and then banged her. I asked him if she got the $9.99 steak and lobster, lol.

He didn't get crabs with the dinner, did he?
