People conflate living in the now to being reckless. Sometimes you need to know when the iron is hot, and you have to strike.

Well the iron is hot right now. We're having an historic off season right now, but we're clearly not doing great at running back. Rather than let that position hold us hostage we should make every attempt to give a catalytic player like Peterson. He singlehandedly made Minnesota competitive for years.

I think a lot of them just don't realize how good he is.

Exactly my point. Our weakest spots are running back and defensive tackle and the first combined with the oline is what got us to 12-4.

The Cowboys landed a big fish in rookie lineman La'el Collins on Thursday, but Dallas might not be done generating headlines on offense.

Team owner and general manager Jerry Jones told KRLD-FM on Friday that he would consider trading away the team's 2016 first-round pick to acquire a game-changing running back or blue-chip defensive talent.

"I'd be reluctant to, but certainly if the right situation came along that could improve us now, with where we are with (35-year-old quarterback) Tony Romo, his career and where we are with what we've put together, it's a good time to go for it," Jones said, per Fox Sports Southwest.

Right now i wouldnt care if we lose a 2nd rounder for AP. A first... ? IDK. But with Collins i am so pumped up i guess id say yes.

I would go crazy if AP came to DC.

If we end up picking at 32 then it's basically a 2nd round at that point.

I really hope we don't do that. It's not just the giving up a potential 5 year contributor by trading the pick, it's also the cost difference between AP and a rookie. AP can't have more than 2 years left in him.

Also no one knows what a season away has really done to AP. we are basically imagining what AP did two years ago, but he two years older and age impacts people whether they play or not.

At this point that may be all that Romo has also. With our OL why not give him the best chance possible at getting him a ring?

I'd feel better about this if we played a preseason game or two and realized that the guys we have really aren't going to cut it.

I think Jones pulls off the trade but for something like a 3rd and a conditional pick based on AD's performance. And the compensation pick we get for DeMarco will only be a few slots behind the 3rd rounder we give up.

Jones will do fine on this, look at the offseason so far -

Dez Resigning - mostly a win
Hardy Signing - Win
Depth signings in FA like Brinkley, Gotchkar, etc - Win
Draft - Win
Collins as a UDFA - Big Win

Whether its Will McClay or Jason Garrett or Jones laying off the sauce, this front office has finally earned the benefit of the doubt on moves like this.

After watching his team fall two games short of the Super Bowl in 2014, it sounds like Jerry Jones is prepared to go all-in for 2015.

You probably already assumed that Jones was all-in after the Cowboys signed both Greg Hardy and La'el Collins this offseason, while also drafting Randy Gregory.

If it wasn't clear though, Jones made it clear on Friday when he told a Dallas radio station that he'd be willing to trade the Cowboys 2016 first-round pick if it meant improving the team "now."

"I'd be reluctant to, but certainly if the right situation came along that could improve us now, with where we are with [Tony] Romo and his career and where we are with what we've put together, it's a good time to go for it," Jones told 105.3 the Fan in Dallas.

Peterson's name wasn't specifically mentioned -- because that'd be tampering -- but it's likely that Peterson's the guy Jones is thinking about when he talks about the possibility of trading a first-round pick.

Exactly! You'd have to think if we traded a 1st for AD we'll hopefully be picking 31 or 32. Or at least somewhere at the end of the first. You got three 1st round talents this year and are a championship contender why not take a risk and see what happens. It could pay off big time!
