I edited all of Randle's 2014 carries into one video. I included a couple of plays that didn't count because of penalty. Liked what I saw but the two fumbles are frustrating. I like him as our starting back. There are a couple of video artifacts in the TITANS game. Apologize for that. Hope you enjoy.

Thanks I've been lookin on YouTube for more of his highlights and didn't have any luck

I'm probably a bigger Randle fan than most, but I just really like the way he runs. His lateral movement and then ability to accelerate forward is excellent (i.e. :40 second mark). Reminds me a ton of how Julius Jones ran as a rookie.

Excellent job.

Randle is a solid NFL RB and he appears to have a good feel for running in the Cowboys Zone scheme.

Two things that were interesting. They seemed to be in 2 TE sets on many of his runs and Harris seemed to be playing WR on several of his runs. It often seemed obvious that it was going to be a run and defenses were often playing run first.

His vision is impressive and a quick cut to get to where he wants to go and seems to be patient. I don't know how or why people think he wont be the starter over DMC. I think the Cowboys give Randle EVERY opportunity to take over the number 1 spot. It is his to lose. DMC in obvious passing downs and Randle is the bell cow (hopefully). I believe the only question with Randle is can he handle 15-20 carries per game for 16 games? That's a big question that they will never know until they actually give him a shot.

Great Video. Thanks!

He seems to mostly get what they block for him. It's a really a shame they overworked Murray and we didn't see more of Randle.

Agreed.

That would have done several things...

-It would have enabled Murray to be fresher towards the end of the season
-It would have lowered Murray's perceived value to other teams in the league
-It would have given many more confidence in Randle's ability to carry the load this year if Murray left via FA

I think the team mismanaged the amount of carries Murray was given. Like how Garrett "fell in love" with the passing game in prior seasons, a similar thing happened here with Murray's workload.

Absolutely. I get that JG likes a bell cow, I actually do too, but you can only give a guy so much work. There were lots of carries Murray got that could have gone elsewhere if you only use the score to dictate who gets the carries (garbage time) and then giving Randle and Dunbar a couple extra touches even in bigger moments wouldn't hurt.

Your right -spread the rock around.

Great job!

Interesting at the beginning of the season, JR hardly ever ran behind the FB and when they did later in the year, he wasn't as effective. Maybe he has trouble with patience and following the FB lead? The FB really doesn't seem to work as well in a zone read where JR picks a hole and burst through it.

Great vision and burst through the hole, good wiggle.

Surprising lack of negative runs.

I wasn't impressed with JR in his rookie year at all, last year was a real breakout year as far as showcasing his abilities. Really like the way you setup this video, running each play twice from different angles. Thanks again for putting this together.

Harris more often than not was a dead giveaway for a run, had been that way for a while now.

I have to disagree with you here. Murray was the best RB on the team and we were trying to make the playoffs. I believe they also knew all along that they were NOT going to resign Murray. Why not run him into the ground? Lets also not forget that he was breaking records nearly the entire season. Personally, I would have used the other RB's a little more, but I would have given Murray 20-25 carries a game just like they did.

Murray played deep into the final game which was a meaningless blowout win. There were other opportunities that could have been given to Randle. They were really increasing the chances that Murray would get injured before the playoffs AND they didn't really get to see if Randle was a legit option for 2015.

I agree but I think a huge part of that was confidence in protecting a banged up Romo.

Very nice job. I see a guy with good vision who is almost always picking the right lanes, and a guy who is both shifty and will lower his shoulder to get tough yards. Outside of the fumbles I didn't really see many flaws with his game. Of course we don't get to see his blocking or receiving here, but as a runner, he's good. I wonder what his average would have been if not for the Indy game where he had defenders in the backfield on many of his carries.

What happened to the long TD run at the end of the final game @ Washington?

I was generally in the don't let Murray walk camp, but I'm willing to see what they do before being overly critical,. I'm just a person who believes in not changing things that work.
