Postitive:

*Runs well in small space and gets through small creases. Has good lateral moves (small cuts) to help him get through in small spaces.
*Uses blockers well.
* Didn't lose any yards (from the 2/3 of the video I watched)
* Gets to another gear quickly once he gets to the open field.
* Doesn't dance around in the back field.

Negatives:

Unlike Murray, once a defender gets a hold of him, he goes down. Doesn't have the same lower body strength.

Yeah, as overrated as I think Murray is as a pure runner, I will say he is incredible at finishing runs. The only player in the league better at it would be Peterson.

The thing I like more about Randle though is that if our OL gets everything blocked Randle will take it to the house. I can't say that about Murray.

I appreciate the kind words. Dunbar's carries were few and far between in 2014 so being able to watch them all at once gives you a better feel for the player. There are so many posts about looking for outside help when Dallas has said repeatedly they like what they have. I'm glad people are able to discuss more about our current players and hopefully see we have talent here.

Don't agree with this. he is pretty slippery breaking arm tackles at the LOS.

I've seen Beastmode carry 3 people into the end zone. Never seen Murray do that.

Noticed that too. The one that got me was Canters' point of Frederick being so integral to Randle's success. I hadn't taken notice to that until he mentioned it.

That's what I saw too. He was not someone that went down just by being touched. He often pushed several guys down the field a bit.

Murray played deep into the final game which was a meaningless blowout win. There were other opportunities that could have been given to Randle. They were really increasing the chances that Murray would get injured before the playoffs AND they didn't really get to see if Randle was a legit option for 2015.

Yes, I really didn't understand why Dallas did that unless they really didn't trust the other backs very much. That would seem to fly in the face, though, of an offseason plan that includes letting Murray go and not bringing in a bona fide replacement.

I'm a fan of what Randle did with the few carries he was given. I'm not a fan of having the bulk of the running game depend on a player who got so few carries. We just have no idea how that will turn out.

STRENGTHS
Productive back in the running and passing game. Possesses enough straight-line speed to eat up yardage when open lanes present themselves. Shows some wiggle in his game once past the line, gets would-be tacklers to lean the wrong way. Seems to fall forward a lot, and is adding weight to his frame each season to get stronger. Attacks targets as a blocker for bubble screens and two-back sets, also flashes the form and willingness to be an effective pass protector. Solid receiver on screens and over the middle; good hands to rein in wayward passes and his shifty hips make him elusive after the catch. Solid ball security, did not fumble in 251 touches in 2011.

WEAKNESSES

Taller back who will run a bit upright at times coming through the line or in the open field. Receiver-like build makes pushing the pile a chore. One-speed back without an elite burst, second gear or great acceleration in the open field. Must learn to explode from cuts using improving strength in his lower half. Struggles to anchor against larger defenders in pass protection, and will duck his head and dive at them instead of staying upright.

NFL COMPARISON Fred Jackson

I think that really sums him up well. 4.63 forty time shows on tape. Not real quick in and out of his cuts. But quick enough. He is slippery and has a good feel for running lanes, most of the time. Getting more reps will only help. Hey, if he can be our Fred Jackson I'd be happy with that.

I agree, but I would also say he doesn't have the leg drive that Murray had (few do and I would say that Randle's power is sufficient for a starter). Also, I think he more than makes up for that by the shiftiness, ability to skinny up, burst and long speed.

For an example of breaking arm tackles, check out 3:20.

Honestly, I don't see how anyone can watch that and not say that he doesn't look better than every 2015 running back draft prospect not named Gordon or Gurley.

I agree with that.

There's a reason why the Cowboys didn't draft back after the 2nd round.

4.63 forty is hard to believe. Randle looks much faster than that imo.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say I know what project you're working on for us next. :)

I really got the feeling that it was important to them to have Murray set a record.

Randle definitely has enough talent as a runner to be productive behind a good OL. The only question is how will he deliver with the increased workload. I would try to keep him around15 carries/game. McFadden & _____ can handle the remaining 10 carries.

I edited all of Randle's 2014 carries into one video. I included a couple of plays that didn't count because of penalty. Liked what I saw but the two fumbles are frustrating. I like him as our starting back. There are a couple of video artifacts in the TITANS game. Apologize for that. Hope you enjoy.

Two big runs:
10:50 - Jacksonville
13:58 - Chicago

Thanks a lot for the edit. Randle can play and leaves me encouraged. Again, not sure if he can carry the full load but we'll see if he keeps improving.
