On DC.com today Dennis & Broaddus discussed the RB situation and their perceived need for a "Bellcow" RB for this year's season. Dennis listed several teams: (Miami, New Orleans, Kansas City, etc.) where the Boy's might be willing to trade Leary for a second RB on a team needing a starting offensive lineman. I will let you speculate on the names involved but Broaddus did disclose that the team is developing a scenario for later this summer which would make a trade to get a DeMarco type runner. He said there are lots of internal discussions about which player would make most sense and fits their need profile.

None of the choices were AP...

Doug Martin

I don't see the real benefit in getting any back up RB's from the teams mentioned.
Are any of them better than Joseph Randle?
I am not saying that Randle is that great. However, neither is any back riding the Dolphins, Saints, or Chiefs bench.

These three teams do not have much though. I know people think Khiry Robinson, I wouldn't trade Leary for him. Knile Davis does not appeal to me either. I would be surprised if Miami deals Lamar Miller.

I don't profess to knowing what they'll end up doing, but I don't believe the RB that will end up getting the bulk of the carries is currently on the team.

I wonder if Spiller is a target? I know they were looking at him before New Orleans snagged him, but they already paid Mark Ingram. Why have 2 similar RBs on the roster?

I'm not surprised by this.

It's probable that Leary will not resign here due to the competition.

And if he doesn't start for the Cowboys he probably isn't going to get a big haul in free agency meaning the Cowboys probably would not get a comp pick or at least a decent comp pick.

Let training camp start and see where injuries leave other clubs at guard. Then see if the can pluck a decent 2nd string back from someone.

I'm giddy with anticipation...

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Potentially looking for back up help in case of injury during the season and at least provide a little more competition. Plus who knows how the preseason will shake out as far as injuries to the current backs.

I doubt it is Spiller. It would be highly unusual for a team to sign a fairly expensive free agent then just turn around and trade him.

I get why Leary would be a good candidate to peddle in trade, but I would not be so quick to give him up for some run of the mill back like these three have in reserve.

Now Tampa, yes, I would trade Leary for the Muscle Hamster.

I think D. Martin could be had for less than Leary personally. He's at the top of my wish list as well.

Trading Leary will hurt our depth on the OL.
Plus a backup RB would need to take the roster spot of McFadden, Randle, Dunbar, Williams.
Maybe Lamar Miller could be a starter here. But having Lamar Miller, McFadden, and Randle seems like overloading the RB's while thinning out the OL when the new addition not being a huge improvement over the guys who roster spot he would be taking.

I don't believe there is really anything to this story.
At least I hope not...haha

I would love LeGarrette Blount. Team him up with either Randle or Williams
