Running back candidates

When a player like Johnson has not been signed, it's almost always about money. Veterans don't like to go though all the rigors of training camp just to give a team a free look. Johnson has made millions so he is likely going to be picky about where he signs and for how much. Playing for the veterans minimum is basically playing for free for a guy that has made as much as he has in his career.

Hard to be 'picky' about anything when nobody is calling you. He's currently on the outside of the league looking in. He's in no position to bargain or negotiate for anything and it's nothing more than a person's assumption to think that he would.

I think it's perfectly reasonable to think that he would be looking for an incentive-laden deal, but he's in no position to be asking for anything more than the opportunity that he has already publicly asked for. Anything more than that is merely someone speculating based on their own opinion.

Hardy is a one-year rental and an incredible player to add to the pass rush before the playoffs. The length of suspension isn't as big a deal as everybody thinks, because he's like that ace pitcher that you add before the trade deadline.

I hope you're right and he does in fact get a chance to play for us. He could become invaluable in the playoffs should we get there
no question about it. I hope he can control himself for 9 months because Goodell is looking for someone to punish. Mara would
like nothing better than it to be for the Cowboys.

To say nothing of the fact that I believe that his bogus suspension will either be greatly reduced or eliminated entirely.

Either way, I see it being nowhere close to the 10 games being mentioned.

Yes, when you're a multi-millionaire you are in a position to be picky. He can just wait for the right deal or just not play. Some team will have injuries at the RB position at some point and likely get desperate which could cause them to meet his salary requirements.

Just because he has not signed does not mean that no team has made him an offer.

If you made 100K per year and then are out of a job near retirement age, would you take a job for 10K if you didn't really need the money?

Not interested. If they are going to cloud the picture with another player, I would prefer it not to be one that showed he was washed up with three separate teams in the past year.

I would be surprised if he gets signed.

I'd bring Chris Johnson in and put and time him in the 40 yard dash to see if he still got it.

I wish we'd just cut Dunbar, sign Chris Johnson and wait to see if the Vikings pull the trigger.

Imagine if Dallas was 7-3 or better, and then added Hardy. The rest of the division would throw up.

How can you simply assume he doesn't 'need the money'?

Let's face it, he doesn't strike you as a brilliant guy or great money manager does he? Because he sure doesn't to me! He may very well have spent most everything he's made in his NFL career and knows that this is his best, last chance to make some more good money before he's finally, completely done.

If teams were bringing him in or making offers, there would be reports about it. He's had crickets chirping whenever his name has been mentioned since the Jets released him.

If Dallas isn't interested, I highly doubt it's because a guy with zero current prospects is making unfair demands.

We will be fine with who we have.

We don't need a marquee back, we just need another decent guy to help carry the load if McFadden goes down. I trust Randle to produce and I like Dunbar as a change of pace back, but we've seen nothing from Williams. Bringing in a few veterans for a look wouldn't hurt, but we don't need to be giving away high draft picks for anyone.

Good post.

I just saw Philip Tanner, Tashard Choice, Troy Hambrick, and Curvin Richards hiding behind the dumpster!
