It's easy to feel clever by saying it isn't smart to make that trade today. However if it is smart or not is not something that can be determined at this point. Is it a gamble? Sure. But so is not doing it.
Let's say they go into the season as we are today and our committee of underachievers fail to make any impact on the game. Romo is forced to be predictable and throw throw throw and he ends up getting hurt or doesn't get hurt but our offense is average again.
Let's say we trade for him and he explodes into carrying us to the next 2 Super Bowls.
Let's say we don't trade for him and we end up drafting the next Mo Claiborne next year.
I am on the fence. However I can see that there is a very real risk reward scenario that just is impossible to know at this point. Too many variables involved.
I will say this....I believe 100% that our chances of success greatly improves over the next 2 years if we were to make this trade. A rookie 2 years from now won't have the same level of impact Peterson will in 2 years.
some of us think a no.1 is way too much, so looking at the vikings board and seeing what they want is hilarious, the most recent being 2016 1st,2nd,3rd round picks, oh and byron jones![]()
You can stay on the fence. For me if I have a choice of AP who could be that ONE piece that could carry us to 2 Super Bowls or getting another Mo Claiborne Id be over that fence in a flash and hand carrying that 1st round pick to Minny. But thats just me, wanting another Super Bowl or two rather than gambling on an unknown 1st rd pick that might be another Bobby Carpenter or Mo Claiorne.
I mean, you are missing the part where we are guaranteed to have Adrian Peterson. That's kinda important to this argument.Trading for Peterson doesn't guarantee anything except not having a pick in the first round in 2016.
Yes. And they are.Aren't all threads related to cowboy players supposed to be in the "Fan zone" ?![]()

lol, I assumed you guys could figure that part out (perhaps mistakenly)
I wouldn't give up next years 1st rounder if he signed for free.
Here are the conditions in which I would welcome Peterson in the Cowboy fold...
1. The Vikings release him... No trade... no giving the Vikings any draft picks. No giving the Vikings any players.
2. He passes through waivers unclaimed. I think the odds of this happening being pretty good. I don't think anyone would claim him and assume his 2015 contract parameters.
The Cowboys could then negotiate with him for a contract that was much lower than what he was going to get from the Vikings.
Those are my conditions.![]()
That will happen... right after Jessica Alba accepts my marriage proposal.
I called dibs, like 20 years ago..........................
You realize she's 34, right? LOL
is why I changed it to 15 years ago, that is when I discovered her in "Idle Hands"![]()
