Next thing you know they will guarantee next year's 15m deal to really stick it to him.

The Vikings wanted Adrian Peterson back. They could have easily cut him if they didn't want to pay him, but they didn't.

It's the same reason why Dallas fans were clamoring for AP - they see he still has something left in the tank.

So tell me what leverage AP had?

The only leverage he had was to sit out for the season, forcing the Vikings to do something. But we knew he wasn't going to do that.

Again, the Vikings had all the leverage. AP had none, or wasn't willing to exercise the only leverage he had, giving up $13 million in the process.

All that shows to demonstrate is what people have failed to recognize around here.

It was about money. He wants more guaranteed money.

It was never ever about "he wants to be a Cowboy!".

I think he did want out. When he saw he couldn't get out, he was trying to force the Vikings to guarantee his contract, thinking that would loosen their hold on him.

I don't know what he was thinking. He wasn't going to utilize the only leverage he had, which was to sit the season. So when he started changing his tune, the Vikings knew they had him.

And then AP, like the Prodigal Son, came to his senses. $13 million will do that for you.

Yep, his job was to try and drum up desperation from the Vikings to do something to make AP a happy camper (money money money). The Vikings called their bluff.

They already had McKinnon and Asiata so they didn't to draft anyone.

I think Dez situation is completely different. As for Minn they have said from the get go they are not getting rid of AP they plan on keeping him. They did leave the door open to anyone willing to give them a kings ransom for him. If Minn wanted to move him they could have done so. Cap wise they are in good shape even with AP contract. Bottom line they are not trading him, Dallas is not getting him. AP will play in Minn period. People are reaching like crazy but the Vikes as I said have not changed their stance 1 single bit. words are free and action speak louder, they said they want him and where is he? They are not shopping him around. So how are their words not being backup by their actions? Only one changing their tune is AP his actions and words do not match. Oh I'm going to retire? BS he is so full of it, he is not retiring and he has no clout whatso ever to force Minn to do anything. I don't make the rules. Re-doing contracts is how it is done in the NFL.

DAL didn't have to do anything with OScan but they did anyways, to appease a star player.

Yes Dallas choose to then again Scandrick is not the highest paid CB in the NFL. AP is getting paid, Minn does not need to hand over any more than they have. He is under contract to Minn. He has a choice sit or play and Minn is not budging and they do not have to. They have said they are keeping him this year< could that chance next year? or the year after sure it could that is their choice.

AP want to play halfhearted fine his chance at the HOF will go down the tubes, he is not a shoe in for the Hall he will still have to put up some big numbers to ensure himself a spot. That is on him

was it treating him right to give him a 36 mill gaurnteed deal? that was for 6 years not 3, you don't get to turn around and say well that was great but now I want more. For what 1,266 yard in 2013? Missing the entire 2014 season? for turning 30 years old? Minn would be off their friken rockers to turn around and pay out more up front money.
