I hope you are being sarcastic. I know Ole Miss was based on the Confederacy, but the term REBEL is not exclusive to that region or era in time. A rebel I someone who goes against authority or the status quo. So, I see no reason for either university to change the name.

In fact, I never saw a reason for any of the schools named after American Indians to change their name. They all seemed to take pride in the names and the heritages of the various tribes.

What do you have against James Dean? George Washington (versus G III)? Texas against Mexico?

Dragons should be free and not a mascot to unworthy humans.

So should the James Dean classic movie change it's name after all these years from "Rebel Without A Cause"?
Maybe something like "Teenage Angst Without A Cause", "Emo Kid Without A Cause", or "Overly Politically Sensitive For A Cause"

Rebel is a noun referring to members of a rebellion. The Confederates were rebels, but the Union were also rebels against the English. The term Rebels is a generic term. My first little league baseball team were named the Rebels.

I suspect this guy is not being sarcastic.

Some threads he has started

"No Meat 2015"
"Earth Hour 2015"
"2015 Spelling Bee Thread"
"Celebrities that like Cars"
"Love Boat Reunion"

Harmless enough though, I suppose...and it is , uh, different.

If it weren't for the actions of rebels, Our Fore Fathers, then this great nation probably would not exist.

Shhhh
There are current occupants in the DC that do not at all consider this nation great.

And in fact, California schools have now told it's educators that they should never say,
""This is the land of opportunity"
"With hard word, anyone can get ahead in this country";

It's now considered antagonistic.

The problem is our Fore Fathers were also slave owners, which presents a quandary. We will have to change the names to an awful lot of things, tear down a couple mountains worth of statues and replace their likeness on our currency. We got a lot of work ahead of us.

The changing of street names are already in the works in Houston. Dowling Street is the first to go............

Yep

And seeing that basically every corner of the earth has had some form of slavery in its history, maybe every living being to apologize to someone at, say, noon, tomorrow

maybe im wrong about the nickname, but the logo has to change, cause it resembles a old kooky confederate soldier. i wanna see a yankee style Rebel logo
