Can we keep the whining about him missing games going? It was a foregone conclusion that he was being dumb yesterday, so i see no reason for that to change.

    Calvin's guaranteed was 43% of his $113.4M extension. Bryant's is 64%. @SportsSturm

Source: Dez Bryant guarantee of $45 mlllion is a virtual guarantee, not a full guarantee. Signing bonus is $20 million. 5 for $70 million.

Full Dez Bryant-Dallas deal that Roc Nation helped negotiate: 5 years, $70M, $45M GTD, $20M signing bonus.

$14M/year sounds about right. However, the guaranteed money seems a little high, and I thought they'd do a 6-year deal instead of 5. He'll be on the wrong side of 30 by that point, though, so it might be smart to evaluate the decline on a shorter deal.

5 years is a good length.

Should see the end of the contract with out the "goofy" extra years to absorb the cap hit.

And in 5 years Dez will no longer be worth that kind of money ($14 mil per season).

Large deal - lots of guarantees - hope this does not haunt later on.

That you would take a negative slant about this is shocking. Not.

I bet you wanted to make the other post pretty bad. The one about how Dallas was going nowhere without Dez under contract. That one would have been much easier to stir up the Cowboy fans with.

You'll be ok though.

That's more than I thought he would get from Jerry, tbh. Does anyone still think Dez is being lowballed?

Im just saying the timing is not exactly smart. I mean, hey we are in the middle of trying to reach a long term agreement with our best offensive player next to our QB, heres a thought lets go away for a week. I cant believe you are making excuses for that.

I'm I still making excuses. In today's world, parties do not have to be present to get deals done. Anyone can be half the world away but still virtually meet face to face.

No - I actually think the record this year would be the same with or without Dez in 2015. Good thing is he really WANTS to be a Cowboy.

Considering the unsettled market and his worth to the team, it is a great deal for Dallas as well.

The Cowboys have to lock up the difference makers and core, Dez qualifies.

That is why S Jones has focused on the draft more, build through the draft to mitigate cost and replace FA defections that are not essential.

I am not as convinced as you are that WR is core because I don't see elite teams leveraging their cap for WRs. Alot of good WR coming out of draft recently. This was as much PR move for Jerry as it was football move for Stephan.
