Another RB we are going to need

If you mean he wasn't solid before he got here, that is arguable

If you mean he wasn't solid while he was here, that is not

He was great in Dallas, no doubt. For a guy who was at the bottom of the depth chart when he signed he had an outstanding year and the type of production he put up in that one year would be well beyond "serviceable vet" status if it were replicated for a number of years.

What he did in Dallas isn't really too relevant to the idea of finding a "serviceable vet" RB because prior to being in Dallas Laurent was not a serviceable vet. He was a 4th year player who had a little over 2 years worth of games played and never really stood out. He was likely working on borrowed time and had he not landed in Dallas he probably wouldn't have done anything worth mentioning. Laurent was the rare player who just fits. Outside of Witten, Robinson probably had the best chemistry with Tony out of all the other offensive players for that one season.

Find a RB who is a nobody and turn him into somebody. That's a better comparison to Robinson.

Someone like Justin Forsett

Gus Johnson supposed looked very powerful in the goalline drills. Its gonna be interesting to see what he can do in the scrimmages

Here we go again. First it was 'we have to sign a vet in FA' then it was 'we have to draft a RB early' finally 'we have to trade for AP' and so I guess it's only natural we get to this point.

BTW what are all the signs you are talking about. I must have missed them.

I pointed them out, but I will list them again.

-McFadden is already hurt. and its a hammy
-Dunbar already hurt
-Randle seems the only back capable of carrying a load. (Not sure we can even depend on that yet)

If Randle goes down then who are we going to depend on to run the ball? I would hate to be left with McFadden or Dunbar having to carry the load. It would be prudent to find a veteran RB that has proven himself in this league to be another backup.

There are going to be some capable RBs available at cut downs. I'm not too concerned with either Dunbar or McFadden just yet as far as injuries go. At least Randle is showing up.

We might end up adding another back at some point, if only to the practice squad. As long as we can pass protect, we'll be ok for a season with what we've got.

How can you not be concerned about Dunbar or McFadden with have been hurt most of their careers and they are already hurt now?

Pass protect? So you dont even think we need much of a running game now? Im sure you can understand the importance of the run game to the passing game and protection correct?

We will be ok? OK?

Am I one of the only guys on here that wants to win another SB?

I guarantee you that those in charge know they need to bring in someone else. They are just waiting for the cut downs.

Wanna bet?

A intelligent person cannot make that distinction until seeing them in preseason games.

"all signs point to the Cowboys buying time until cut downs" The big cut downs are well into preseason and after.

Try not to let your dislike for my point of view of Garrett bleed into other threads. You may find we have much common ground on other subjects.

I think ultimately, it isn't going to be that bad. Randle seems to have the running part down at least and we may find that we are more explosive on offense overall. I would, however, like to see us add a competent strong power back.

Say what you want about Murray, but he brought a mean, physical presence to our offense. Much like Lynch for the Seahawks. I think having that kind of ability to impose your will on short yardage plays and also be able to pound and wear down a front seven both from the line and from your running back is a great tool.

An offense without that bruiser in the rotation isn't quite as dynamic, isn't quite as well rounded and intimidating.

I agree completely.

Those are not signs they are you reading between the lines. I have have not seen, read or heard any signs from the Cowboys front office.

I don't think you've got a great handle on what wins NFL football games, overall. And no, I'm not worried about Dunbar's ankle. McFadden's hammies I think are more concerning, because of his age and history, and because I think we're counting on him to be a solid pass protector who can hurt teams in space. If he can't get on the field, I can easily see us making a move at RB.

Beyond that though, the team's been very clear about heir RB intentions for a year and a half now. They drafted Randle to replace Murray, and they believe he can do it. The only questions are with who backs him up. They like Dunbar, too, and seem intent on getting the ball to him more this season, as well. Many fans don't like it, but they don't really have to at this point in the off season.

JoRan, Dunbar, DmC, and GUS on the PS. thats your backs. If someone is hurt, Gus is active.

He looked good on every carry IMO. At this point its tough to see another RB being brought in. They have to learn the play book and that takes time.

I was just stating a fact.

LOL.......Yah, that is ME reading THE SIGNS at the running back spot. I am not claiming there are signs from the front office. But I would bet you that if I am thinking about it, they are. But no, I have no proof they are thinking about it.

The idea that these running backs can't each do around 150 carries over the year.... simply makes no sense. 9-10 carries per game.

LOL......another insult. How refreshing.

So is the type of thing I can expect from you going forward? Following me around from thread to thread insulting me?

I guess there just isnt much that worries you. Is there ANYTHING that worries you?

We dont need healthy backs, heck we dont even need much of a run game. We just need a passing game and great pass protection. No correlation between playing the run and rushing the passer. I guess I just dont know football eh? LOL

You are CLEARLY not understanding where I stand. I VERY MUCH like Randle. But if he goes down, at this point, we will be too thin.

Yah, but screw it, who cares. We dont even need a run game anyway. Lets go back to pass happy football and get Romo killed. No worries!!!!

The best part about someone like you claiming someone doesnt know much about football is that everything always plays out and we find out EXACTLY who knows what. I'm going to enjoy watching this RB thing play out.
