Thomas already rejected an offer from Houston.

I know. But I don't know why. The impression I got was that the money wasn't right.

We're not Houston, though. We've got an ideal situation if he's looking to play. And we've got cap room to get a deal done if we want one.

870,000 for one year is what Houston offered him.

Yeah, he's a team first vet who'd be a role player anyway. Temperament-wise he'd be a great fit, and the screens would seem to be a big plus for him if we were to want to push DMC.

This might already have been reported, but reading between the lines, Romo seems to like Gus, too:

It's be great if we'd hit on a healthy UDFA who could participate. Even another Phillip-Tanner level back would help. And Tony's a pretty good judge of talent. When he hints that a guy might have something, they usually do.

I like RB's with that Ricky Williams type of build.

Can't wait to see him put his foot on the pedal Thursday and hopefully truck some guys.

5-11 215 and is just built like a bowling ball.

Now I want to see if he has vision or if he runs to darkness like Demarco.

Not sure what the deal was. He went out there and had a nice visit. Seems like he wanted to play still. I can't imagine him getting much more than $870k for a season. Obviously, I don't want to overpay an aging vet, but if his expectations are reasonable, I do think he's a potential fit.

870k is vet minimum

I like that body type from a RB, too. I still consider him a roster longshot, but I do like everything I've heard about him. Would be fun to see him have a great game on THU.

Randle and DMN would play this Sunday if he were a real game. Overprotection from the Cowboys shouldn't result in overreaction from the fans.

a fart after mexican food garners over-reaction from some fans.

At this point I don't think it's a long shot..

Also, im sure the Cowboys would love to say that they signed a UDFA RB a few days before training camp and he ended up producing behind this OL.

Other factors aside, I think Gus Johnson has the build and body type to possibly be this team's best candidate to be a workhorse running back.

Don't worry any one of us can get yards behind our OL...at least that's what I'm told.

In terms of just body type, he might be.

A knock on him coming out was supposed to be his pass blocking. How he dies there in games will say a lot about his roster shot.

Maybe he watches NFL network and knows Dallas may be on the phone soon enough. Pierre has always been part of a RBBC. Team guy. Solid Pro. Good receiver and very reliable. He would be a nice addition if DMC hams it up too much. I can see them making that swap if DMC doesn't get his act together.

That doesn't bode well for any QB's playing Thursday night as that's been the biggest criticism of Seastrunk too!

They are not the only team with RB needs. It just appears they are simply burying their heads in the sand and hoping everything works itself out by the regular season. That good ol' hope as a strategy thing again.

The cardinals just offered CJ a contract

It only takes one bad hit. He is aging and we all know he has a weak back. If we ask him to throw the ball more because our running backs can't get things done.. then we are asking for trouble.

It only takes one bad hit for any qb to go down..this is football..and Murrays production dropped significantly late in the year and romo took a much larger role in the offense as the season progressed and there were no signs of the offense slowing down..

Murray did his job...he carried the team until romo got healthy...he's no longer needed here
