News: DT Chris Whaley Suffers Torn Achilles At Monday Practice

I would have in the past, but Tyrone Crawford and Barry Church seem to be better than ever after that injury.

I just meant the nature of the injury itself. That one and the snapped patellar tendon where the kneecap floats up into the quad just ook me out.

Can someone tell me the proper amount of concern I should show for this injury? I don't want to appear insensitive, but at the same time don't want to give the impression of being a Chicken Little?

Ask Galian Beast since he is your boss...

Agree. I have wondered if Church and/or Crawford just had partial tears.

I thought I was the only one feeling this way..I don't even think this guy would have made the team...sure as hell wasn't going to be active...sucks for him, no question...don't want to see anyone get hurt..but this has zero impact on 2015 season

Man, this player just can't catch some luck unless it's bad.

Well, the Lord takes with one hand and gives with the other. Maybe he can be even stronger now, and age on a player's level and improve even more.

He had a shot at the practice squad. He had picked it up in camp but was still about 4th at the 3 tech.

Sucks. Former Longhorn too. Hopefully he makes a full recovery and has a chance to make the team again next summer, but I'm not holding my breath. For shame.

He was a pet cat for me. His college game footage was very good; however, I was getting the impression that he was low on the depth chart up to this point in TC. It seems Coleman, Bishop and even Jack Crawford were ahead of him at DT. They've also been playing Russell more at DT than DE from what I've seen.

I think Jack Crawford is the real wild card here. He might earn the reserve spot behind Tyrone Crawford (although I don't know what that will mean as far as playing time because I think we'll see a lot of Mincey and Hardy at those inside spots on passing downs).

?

They will likely waive him. No team will claim him and then he will revert to IR. At that point they have 5 days (I think it's 5) to give him a settlement or just keep him on IR. If he signed a split contract that pays less if on IR, then there might not be any savings to give him a settlement.

That RWilliams thread was actually very helpful. I think you nailed the breakdown.

It is a major injury that would probably be year-long, so 17 weeks at full salary for a settlement vs a likely split contract at half price to stay on the IR all year and retain his rights.

I think Coleman might have more talent than JCraw but they don't trust him which gives Crawford the advantage.

Bummer for many fans on CZ that was rooting for the kid. I never paid attention to his game while in college but I was curious to see what the fuss was about with Whaley.

I hope he sticks with it in regards of becoming a NFL football player, just believe his ship has sailed with Dallas due to this injury.
