I liked the defense. Offense was unimpressive. Special teams was attrocious. This is the second week in a row where the opposing team was starting near the 50 each time.

And if Romo has a bad back in Week 1 of this year, I'd anticipate us looking equally as bad.

The preseason hasn't concerned me other than these issues: We really, really need a better backup QB; our offensive line took a major hit with losing Parnell, and I'm not confident we can withstand a Free injury; and I'm still concerned with our ability to get tough yards in the ground game.

I will agree with these concerns and add that with the emphasis with rushing up field even the starting defense has had issues with stopping the run consistently thus far.

Further, special teams have looked horrid and KR is still not settled in my book.

Do not evoke the nightmare that was Camp Cupcake please. There is nothing to compare here.

I'm gonna disagree......If you have been watching the practices....the way the players have been coddled has made them soft. Half the team is "quote" hurt......And by Garrett enabling this to go on...Is just like a spreading cancer.

It's not good.....and needs to be stopped

Rivers, Gardner, Gregory come to mind. I thought Vaughn showed something although hardly outstanding.

I noticed Gregory played a lot of this game. Looks like the team wants him to see as many snaps as possible.

Was a bit distracted by my company but he was always in the game when I could focus.

Rewatching the game now.

And if we'd had 10 major injuries because we were pedal-to-the-metal you'd be the first to blame Garrett for that.

The Cowboy team is approaching the preseason games just as they should. There shouldn't even be any preseason games....and to call them 'games' is a complete misnomer.

These things are practices...and 80% of the practice time is filled up with players that won't even be on the roster!

We have played like crap for 2 weeks now, not worried but concerned. Other observations........

If Romo goes down, we win 4 games max.

Our depth on the oline is laughable.

Our ST are by far the worst in the league.

This RB by committee is joke, all these guys look like JAGs.

It never fails to amaze me that people don't get it when you try and play it safe that is when most injuries accure.

Based on the first 2 preseason games where more than half the starters didn't start and those that did played very little? Classic behavior of a band wagon fan.

Agreed on all points. Of immediate concern is the tough yards in the ground game. It appears the biggest component of the running game that we'll miss is the ability to take on a hit and fall forward for another 1.5-2 yards. Randle and Mcfadden are explosive and can hit the creases with speed but don't appear to be very strong runners in traffic.

Agree on the other 2 points but you cant predict injuries...maybe we never have to face either reality.

Yea, it's the dirty yards where we are going to miss Murray

Alex Tanney in for he Titans. Would much rather have kept him than be wasting our time with Vaughan

Passing CP/AT YDS TD INT
A. Tanney 7/9 105 1 0
Z. Mettenberger 7/9 91 1 0
M. Mariota 5/8 59 0 0

Dallas should have kept him, but by bouncing around he may be better now than if he had stayed with cowboys.

You really can't tell much in the preseason. Special teams is concerning as there appeared to be gaping holes all over the place. Escobar and Randle missed opportunities last night. Escobar isnt going to get many chances so he needs to capitalize on all of them. On Weeden's first possession on third down, Escobar had a pretty easy catch to get a first down. He dropped the ball. Those type of plays just kill you when the games matter. On the next possession, Weeden hit Escobar on a third down for a first down, but Randle was called for holding. That play is even worse imo. Randle seems to lack that powerful punch on pass protection. Teams will and can send more rushers than blockers. Having a running back clean up the extra rusher is what gives the Cowboys chances at big plays down the field. These type of plays and those rough tough yards are much more important to me with Randle than running through a big hole.

I am not upset the cowboys rested a lot of players tonight or that they did not play very well. Maybe the practices with the Rams wore them down. The Rams also looked awful last night. I did want to see at least one of our top three running backs get extended work. I loved when Parcells would give a backup running back like 10 carries in a quarter of a preseason game. I don't think any of our running backs are anything more than just a guy, so I would like to see Dunbar or Randle get an extended look. They really have not had the chance to show how they look when they get the ball fed to them on a few possessions.

even garrett was unhappy with this game, he said all 3 phases and ST were bad.
He looked like he was mad and worried.
Said he needs to see the tape.
Didnt say anyone did good.

I thought showers and swaim did good. and porter and jenkins both wr did good.
plus gregory and few on defense did good.

But over all it was a pitiful performance for a team, even PS.

off topic, but how was U of Florida so bad? I think they had two offensive lineman more highly rated than our third round pick this year. I also saw the Niners had a tackle from Florida who was a 7th round pick who is huge and the announcers seemed to be high on. The running back Washington got, Matt Jones, from Florida is also getting good reviews so far. Chaz Green seemed productive but didn't even play full time.

I know the QB was terrible, but Florida seemed to have good talent seeing some of their players who were drafted.
