Numbers Don't Lie, Romo

Nice. I love it. Unfortunately the narrative around Tony is cast in stone.

i used to vehemently defend Romo, over and over and over and over and over and over.. I just don't have it in me to do anymore. The hilarious, asinine, ignorant, and completely false narrative that Romo is a choker has jaded me to no end

people are always going to throw out something. First it was playoff wins. Well Tony has 2 now. Now it's "only 2 playoff wins in 10 years". Let's say he wins a superbowl, then it will be "he has only 1 ring!" and so on and so forth

thanks for this. I have always said this before. he gets so much flack for no reason at all. he has had to deal with some of dallas worst defenses and still come out on top.

Keep up the fight...Romo deserves it even if your fighting against ignorance. I find many of those I argue with eventually come around even though they may not outwardly admit it.

This pisses me off.
This needs to be put on minutes every time these foolish talking heads form their mouth to spilll that garbage.
Everybody want to be a :starspin:

I am about to piss you off even more, i have been look at Romo's 4th quarter sgats, while trailing with less than 4 minutes and less than 2 minutes stats compared to the top twelve qbs. The results will amaze you.

This is something I had been thinking about after the Giants game.

So....we have Romo with all of these come from behind wins. And we also have Romo with all of these late INT's.

To me, it is another example of why Romo's over-audibling hurts him.

Romo's late INT's almost exclusively happen when the Cowboys are leading or tied. That is when Romo is likely going to slow down the offense, audible a lot, and get all of the snaps off at close to zero. But, when we are behind, now the snaps have to get off quicker because we don't have the time to audible to death and let the play clock go down to 0 on every snap.

This is what happened in the Giants game. We started to see the offense get the snaps off more quickly at the start of the 3rd quarter and they scored a TD. Then they got down in the 4th quarter and had to get the snaps off quickly and the Cowboys scored 2 more TD's.

I honestly think we can get so much more out of Romo and the offense by speeding up the snaps far more often.

I totally agree. That's why I hated the offense on Sunday Nt. The flow was lousy, and while I realize Romo is dissecting there defense I just think it kills the offense as well. I am also curious if that was our way of owning the clock since the rushing game wasnt working that well. I just don't see how you can get any defense on there heals by using the whole playclock. I hope that changes!

Here are all QBs since 2006 sorted by passer rating when either tied or leading in the 4th quarter (requires at least 200 attempts to qualify).

If his audibles are a "problem", then I hope he doesn't correct the problem.

I agree with you here. I have always thought that Tony was a much better up tempo quarterback. And like you said, I think he overthinks things sometimes when trying to slow or salt away a game. His first instincts are usually the right one.

I'm surprised that Garrett and Linehan haven't picked up on this and used it earlier in games to help Tony get into a rhythm.

I think you need to

Watch the video.

There is no "all of these late interceptions". Average of 3 4th qtr interceptions per year.

Stop promoting the myth.

The last stat showed 12 td and 0 int on game winnning drives

The running game was working just fine. Did you watch the game?

Yes, but not sure you did.

If you would've watched the game you would've seen that the Cowboys were behind by 2 scores most of the game which forced them to pass more than run. They were effective early on when they did run. Only turnovers and dropped passes prevented them from scoring on drives that used the run as much as the pass.
