Dez's season is looking like it could be over.

We let Murray go believing we would have Dez on the roster. Now we have neither. This is the most adversity we have had in a long time. The good thing is we still have plenty of weapons on offense. It's a matter of execution. And with reinforcements on the way for the defense, this season is not over. Not by a long shot. We just have to take it one game at a time. 2-0 in the division would be sweet even without Dez. Let's hope for the best.

He'll be back some time after the bye. That's still all we know. What exactly has changed here?

A 1-0 team and it's week 2. Not good news about Dez, but let this play out. Reality is, other teams will perhaps suffer injuries to key players today.

All the Debbie Downers in this thread. We're a good enough team to still win the division without Dez. We might not go 13-3 but no reason we can't go 10-6. I don't think we can win a Super Bowl without Dez but I'm not worried about making the playoffs. As long as Dez can get back in the groove the last few games of the regular season, we should still be contenders come playoff time. As great as Dez is, this team is built around Romo and the O-line.

this is why i was initially concerned... i remember asking @jobberone about this...

Ryan nevertheless responded, without profanity or other frustration. And he explained that a bone graft is “fairly common for elite athletes with this surgery.” Ryan added that most doctors believe a bone graft “enhances blood flow at the fracture site.”

His time table is insignificant when it comes to his long term health... everything is just speculation at this point... waiting game.

The use of an autogenous plug thru the fracture followed by a plate has been shown to reduce healing time by 2-3 weeks from commonly 8 weeks. The plug replaces the previous standard of placing a screw. I don't know if magnetic field and electrical stimulation therapy is used to augment healing but I wouldn't be surprised esp in a professional athlete.

They may leave the plate in as there is evidence these fractures are often the result of repetitive microtrama assuming the plate is not causing discomfort and/or dysfunction.

4 weeks is not our of the question. 6 weeks is more likely but it could be longer.

Id rather have neither than what murray showed against no defense last week.

Wasn't Murray's fault, Chip doesn't know how to use him. The arrogant Kelly today either rushes him 40 times to rub it in our faces or he uses him again like last week........who knows though.

Goes from bad to worse and we haven't even played the 2nd game yet. Time for someone to step up

someone will step up and we will adjust. We're not as good of a team with Dez out but we're still a pretty good team. Before everyone jumps off the bridge lets see what we do on the field with what we got. I still think it comes down to the Cowboys and Packers for the NFC.

Can we always back date Dez to the IR/Return list?

We don't need the roster spot this week but if he really needs 8-12 weeks we will need it later.

What has changed? Maybe something along the lines of 12 games instead of 6 games.

Just because Rap reported this, doesn't mean it's true. Actually, a bone graft in this type of surgery decreases the healing time, not the other way around. I don't think the timetable has changed from the original 4-6 weeks.

This is what happens when sports reporters and Networks can more about being the first to break the "Big news" trying to beat out the other reporters from other Networks reporting it first. Sometimes things don't end up being confirmed or they end up not being true at all or don't end up like how the reporter reported the story.

That's ridiculous. These honest, hard-working reporters wearing out the pavement to bring you news. They would never make up a story.
