But I thought the team said 4-6 weeks?! I thought all those random medical experts people talked to didn't know what they were talking bout?

This is why this forum needs to stop getting their panties in a bunch when they take for granted what the team says because they ALWAYS get this wrong.

Hey - Don't be dejected, Mr. Fan.

He didn't actually need a graft. They just chose that option in doing the procedure in order to promote the best blood supply to the bone tissue. When an outsider looks at the surgical report, he logically may conclude that the graft was done because of a complication, and then assume a longer recovery period. There were no complications or unexpected findings.

You know what? This changes nothing for today, even if it's true. And from this point forward, our Boys just have to take the schedule one game at a time. Get down off the bridge and have a little faith.

Go Cowboys!!

This is what happens when sports reporters and Networks can more about being the first to break the "Big news" trying to beat out the other reporters from other Networks reporting it first. Sometimes things don't end up being confirmed or they end up not being true at all or don't end up like how the reporter reported the story.

As bad as this news is, the best way to handle it is to allow it to heal 100%. Many don't realize that the 5th metatarsal extends well into the foot. It's not just the pinky toe. WR's take a beating on their feet and to rush Dez back would be foolish. It could have long term implications if not handled properly. Sometimes you just have to face facts for the eventual greater good.

If you want to take a positive from this, the rest of the receiving corps will become a more experienced unit. This is a hard pill to swallow but there is light at the end of the tunnel, however faint it may seem.

The team will have to pull together and people step up for the common goal ---Super Bowl 50 win-6 time Champs Dallas Cowboys- The dream lives !!!:yourock:

Nfl network had the Dez out 10-12 weeks up as a headline (above their upcoming topics on the left) just 10 minutes ago. Now they've taken it off.

Could the graft make it heal faster than without it assuming that it does promote the best blood supply?

Exactly! WR's don't win Superbowls! Superbowls are won by QB, OL, and DL. And, we're good/elite at all 3 of those positions. Heck, I can't even name you most of Seattle's, GB's, or New England's WRs, and they compete for the SB each year. Dez is a luxury, and not a necessity, for SB success.

So now that we know Dez had a bone graft and from all indications this is a Jones fracture, do we know what a 'typical' recovery time is for a NFL athlete?

Is it the 4-6 weeks (the latest estimate the Cowboys have mentioned) or something else?

Let them jump, this forum would be better off......:lmao:
After reading a post in another thread when someone posted they hoped McFadden tweaked a hamstring so Michael could get on the field. Just shows how pathetic some fans are. And they call themselves fans...I think not...hoping for an injury for a player on another team is bad enough, but for our own team, is just low.
