Funny quote from him this morning.

"Dallas' defense is no good, but Marinelli has them playing well." What?

"Shawn Lee flashes." again, What? I guess he "flashed" quite a bit there sunday.

Jaws is a Philly Homer and doesn't want to admit that the Cowboys defense is vastly improved. That being said, we if the Cowboys defense is still ranked top 5 after week 6 or later than I'll believe we have turned a corner. It's too early to tell for sure yet

Th quote I think was that "the Dallas defense is not that good "

They shut down Eli Manning and they shut down Bradford whom many were saying was the best quarterback in the division...

9th in passing yards allowed per game
1st in rushing yards allowed per game
2nd in yards allowed per game
5th in points allowed per game (which is highly deceptive given our offense is responsible for most of those points)

I'd say at least 17 points are on the offense out of our 36...

and we're still missing two of our best players on defense....yes please ignore that.

The national media is always completely behind when it comes to the narrative on players and teams. If I was a member of the national media, all I'd be talking about is how the dallas defense is already a top 5 defense and is going to get back 3 very talented players in two weeks.

If you ranked our players on defense Hardy, McClain, and Gregory would probably rank, 2, 4, and 5.

Eh, who needs facts and stats, when hatred feels so much better when supporting your points.

He is a COMPLETE nincompoop. Nothing else needs to be said.

I completely agree.

He's easily the most overrated analyst in the past 20 years.

He used to be very good when he started out, but then he followed the ESPN blueprint and became this homer and is now all style and little substance.

He's more or less a completely joke.

Jaws used to be one of my favorites but he really petered out. Went from being holy crap this guy can break this stuff down to WHAT ARE YOU EVEN SAYING.

I wish they would change the stats. They have the ability to do so now.

Team
Total Points Scored: All 3 phases
Offensive Points Scored (TD, FG, PAT, 2 Pt.)
Defensive Points Scored (TD, S)
ST Points Scored (TD, S)

Total Points Allowed: All 3 phases
O Points allowed (TD, S)
D Points allowed (TD, FG, PAT, 2 Pt.)
ST Points allowed (TD, S)

This way, when looking at stats, a team's defense doesn't get penalize for the offense giving up a pick 6 or the ST giving up a KR or PR TD.

Excluding the garbage-time drive late in the Philly game, the Dallas defense has given up only 4 drives of more than 50 yards in 2 games. Jaws can call it what he wants, but those results are excellent.

We are currently ranked #2 and as the Tuna use to say, paraphrasing, you are what your record says you are. It is never too early in a 16 game season to look at stats. Also, if stats don't move ya, how about believing your lying eyes.

Every week the defense will reveal another piece to indicate how good they are. Or not.

At this juncture, they have beaten teams that are not playing very good football. Even the Wash@NY game last night revealed where those the Giants are.

Pre-season has indicators of what to expect for the season, but they are hidden within a lot of crap that is meaningless because people are on the field who shouldn't be.

So to is the first few games of the year less of an indicator of where the defense or offense is compared to a larger sample size.

Jaws is paid to offer an opinion. It does have a basis of playing the game and studying the game for a lifetime. He may be right, or wrong at this juncture. But the quality of competition Dallas has faced does lend itself to the idea any stats used to support how good thid defense is at this point is wasted information.

Hardy gets here. McClain gets here. Gregory gets here. Let them gel, then dip a toe and see where they are. At this point, it is just to early to do much but dream.

I agree. With the amount of statistics being analyzed and utilized in today's NFL, there's really no good reason.

He's especially bad when it comes to the Cowboys.

I remember when Romo first started in 2006, they showed film of Romo reading the defense correctly and going to the correct receiver with the ball. Jaws said Romo was 'lucky' because he had an 'uncanny sense of where to go with the ball every time.'

That's not an exaggeration. In Jaws' analysis, Romo was lucky because HE KNEW HOW TO READ A DEFENSE.

Another time they showed analysis of DeMarcus Ware getting a 1-on-1 with a Left Tackle and the Tackle stonewalling Ware and Jaws saying "ANYTIME you get a 1-on-1 you must get to the QB." No Jaws. Even Lawrence Taylor didn't get to the QB every time he had a 1-on-1. It's football.

He also has super apologizing way for every QB in the league (as long as it's not a Cowboy). I remember him profusely apologizing for Rex Grossman, who cost the Bears a Super Bowl. If the Bears had Brandon Weeden that year...they win a Super Bowl. He was the guy that raved about Mark Sanchez, Trent Edwards and Kirk Cousins. There was also some QB out of E. Washington years ago that he was flabbergasted wasn't drafted and he never played in the league.

I'd rather listen to football from a hobo who was a refugee from the great acid wave in San Francisco during the 60's than listen to Jaws. He's a clown.

He is an huge Eagles homer so they are all pretty butt hurt right now.

He's a Philly fan so of course he's not always going to make sense in his thought about the Cowboys lol

Didn't you know that anytime we do something good its only because the other team messed up.....We didn't come from behind and beat the Giants...the giants pooped the bed and gifted us the win.
We didn't completely dominate the eagles offense.....the eagles offense line took a day off and forgot how to block.

Other Lee and Crawford, who else is top notch on that defense right now? Without Gregory, the Kraken, and our MLB, I am surprised we have done so well. Our best corner is out for the year. I think the secondary has done really well considering. Solid group of guys. But in my mind, most of the credit goes to Marinelli. He has them playing amazing.
