Not a shot at Hardy. Ratliff seemed a team guy early in his career, not sure what happened.

This is true. I remember him and Ware being close but Ware making the comments that he became a bit anti-social around the end.

Don't want to speculate too much, but I wouldn't be surprised if he has a severe case of being bipolar. I hope he gets checked out.

Report: Bears called Cowboys about Jeremiah Ratliff as “security precaution”
Posted by Michael David Smith on October 28, 2015

When the Bears cut defensive tackle Jeremiah Ratliff last week, they called the police over concerns about his reaction after a heated exchange with General Manager Ryan Pace. And the police weren’t the only people the Bears called.

According to the Dallas Morning News, the Bears notified the Cowboys of Ratliff’s releaseas a security precaution.

Although there was no specific threat against the Cowboys or any individual within the Cowboys organization, the Bears still thought the Cowboys needed to know that Ratliff, a former Cowboy, might be heading back to his home near the team’s facilities.

Bit of a non story. Bears GM gives Stephen a heads up. Part "don't think about signing him" and part "we know he's got friends in the team."

A "severe" case of bipolar would likely make him incapable of performing in the NFL. That would usually emerge much earlier in life.

He likely has a long-term problem with substance abuse issues - likely related to depression/anxiety issues. Probably more the substance issues at his age though

He was considered a team guy and totally enthusiastic early in his career, I don't know if it was money or fame or whatever but he changed 180 degrees.

I went to the Oxnard training camp his rookie year and remember posting about it on the old DMN Forum. I was standing at the fence during warmups and Ratliff was across from Kareem Larrimore. Ratliff was totally focused, obviously loving every minute of it. Larrimore was joking and cutting up, not taking it seriously at all. I remember writing way back then that even on that one small moment, I thought Larrimore would underperform and Ratliff would overperform. (I had no idea he would become a Pro Bowler obviously).

Here's report from an "incident" last year with the Bears -

In the last week of the season, on a Friday, according to a player who witnessed the entire incident, Ratliff showed up to practice and was behaving belligerently toward players and coaches. The coaching regime, then led by Marc Trestman, would not allow him to practice.

Ratliff went ballistic, this player said, and was asked to leave practice. He departed but later returned. Practice was stopped and most players went off to the side while a small group of players and coaches tried to calm Ratliff down and get him to leave.

It didn't work initially. Ratliff destroyed the game clock on the practice field, smashing it and kicking it. Later, he shoved an assistant coach to the ground.

Seriously, screw this guy.

That's a classy move by the Bears.

Well, I guess..if you.re assuming no one in the Cowboys org knew he was released and caused a stir by, idk, Not opening up Yahoo Sports...and forgot about his history in Dallas.

I'm sure Valley Ranch went to Defcon 1. Kind of a silly story, that actually sounds like someone feeding someone a line of bull

Why do crazy DL somehow make it thru the Cowboys & Bears. Brings back memories of Alonzo Spellman.

I've never seen such a drastic change in a player. Ultimate positive team guy, and then completely unpredictable and paranoid malcontent. And for really no reason.

Roid Rage.....

Rat may have CTE...I hope not but it has early onsets and he may be displaying it. Especially if we think back to him having that confrontation with Jerry years back. He has always been a person that was "sometimey" but being an undersized NT for all those years could actually lead to him having CTE. Who knows...truly hope not though.

Just linking the two, but I think it was when his grandparents passed.. He was ever so grateful for Jerry Jones for lending his plane for him to handle his family business. And then it was all downhill from there.

None of those guys have anything "severe" - Spellman had drug and alcohol problems and refused to take medicine. Most severe cases are poorly controlled by medicine or require drugs that make football largely impossible

I for one would welcome the most intense craziest pass rush in the league.

Go big or go home.
