News: Sturm: Why you shouldn't check out on the 2-6 Cowboys

That's the thing about Romo's injury. Its effected everyone. This defense was solid and getting turnovers because teams had to play us aggressive. They couldn't dink and dunk and beat us with 14 points on the board. You get a healthy Romo back......all of a sudden teams are going to be prone to giving you more turnovers, the defense will be on the field less, the run game will be better.....Romo's impact goes further than just the offense. The defense feels his impact as well.

how do other teams do it? We cant win one winnable game, regardless of the qb not named Romo? How do other teams with lesser qbs do it?

Packers went on a 5 game losing streak without Aaron Rodgers.......what other teams are you referring to?

Only answer I have for that is other teams have better coach and better talent outside of their quarterback. Show me a team that has a decent defense that can't get turnovers and has a backup quarterback that gives the other teams pick 6's and win consistently?

My problem is I'm not sure this team is winning with him back just due to the D. The division is definitely winnable at 9 wins and Romo is the engine that drives us but I'm seeing many of the issues from 2013 and before and less of 2014 this year. Feel like some units are going through the motions...or cramping through them. My hope is Romo puts us on a run but I also thought we'd have 1-2 wins with a backup.

He's going to have some rust. People have to remember that.

He had already been practicing what are you talking about. I heard the same thing about Hardy and McClain but what happen? Dez has missed almost all training camp and most of the season. ....he didn't look rusty.

Calling it now, Romo comes back and this team finishes 7-9 or even 8-8.

I see wins against:
-Bucs
-Dolphins
-Commanders (2x)
-Bills
-Jets (@ home)

The above teams are not good football teams and Dallas is barely losing all their games. Once Tony returns, it'll be a whole different story. He makes that much of a difference.

The only potential losses are to Green Bay and Carolina imo. And I think that Carolina is extremely overrated, despite their 0-8 record. Cam Newton's accuracy issues will eventually cost them games. I wouldn't be shocked at all if we upset them.

Not saying that we'll make the playoffs, but with a 7-9 or 8-8 record, and this division being as bad as it is, you just never know.

I would say they've done enough as awhole considering the garbage coordinator they have and the fact they truly only have one impact player. They stunk down the stretch last night, but still held the Eagles to 20 points in regulation. If it wasn't for that awful pick six they win. That's on the quarterback. 13 points in back to back weeks. If Terrance doesn't wuss out and makes that TD grab we win going away.

Four takeaways in eight games is "doing enough"?

How is Carolina overrated? I don't understand that one. They just beat the crap out of Green Bay at home. Went to Seattle and won coming from behind. Those are two big wins against the two teams who played in the NFC Championship Game. Defense is top notch once again. Their offense is getting by with not awhole lot of weapons. They run the ball well. Cam's stats aren't gaudy, but he's making plays when he has to. They'll blow our doors off most likely especially on a short week.

0-8 record? LOL

What do you expect? They've had like ten takeaways called mostly due to bad calls or the ball hitting the ground. This is the same damn defense basically that led the NFC last year. Marinelli is playing as vanilla as Garrett does on the offensive side combined that with an offense that scares no one and that's what you get. Bottom line is we win each of the last three games if the offense doesn't turn the ball over especially in crucial situations.

Hardy is a different animal. Dez's first game back he looked like crap. He looked way better last night. You really want to use McClain in this argument?
Romo isn't near the shape Hardy is.

Your smarter than that. Takeaways that didn't happen aren't takeaways no matter what.

Dez was still hurt last week. ...broke his foot. ...run, jump etc.

Romo broke non throwing shoulder. Explain how he will be rusty when he has been practicing 2 weeks before he plays? Stop it dude

They didn't "beat the crap out of Green Bay." They won by a TD and Green Bay had a chance to tie the game on the 4-yard line with less than 2 minutes to play and just couldn't convert. And the packers played horrible in the first half of yesterday's game.

Carolina barely beat the Colts last week. They barely beat the Saints and they struggled against the Texans. They keep winning close games, just like how we keep losing close ones. They do play good D and run the ball well, I'll give them that, but all I'm saying is I wouldn't be shocked if we beat them at home with our offense fully healthy.

I am already looking forward to next year. I've checked out already...

No you haven't, you are here so you haven't checked out. This is the place for fanatics that can't check out even if they type the words. Next Sunday you will be watching the game like every Sunday and you will visit this site like you do after every game.

You don't frequent a Cowboys message board if you have the ability to check out.
They got us my friend. Each and every one of us.

You know what practice consists of right? I'd say just a little different than live action.

Suckers we are lol

The sad thing is, everybody thinks Romo will just come in here and safe the day, but if he fails, some of them will blame it on Romo again.

So were the Cowboys overrated last year? Because they had a number of close games as well. They barely beat mediocre teams like Houston, St. Louis, the Giants, and got blown out by San Francisco and lost to the freaking Commanders. The bottom line is they're winning games. They were beating the crap out of Green Bay and they let them back in it and guess what? They found a way to win a football game. They came up with a clutch stop. That's what good teams do. Give credit where credit is due.
