News: Sturm: Why you shouldn't check out on the 2-6 Cowboys

Of course the fans shouldn't check out. Jerry needs to make some more money the last half of the season. The media still has to write articles on the team and try to keep generating some interest to keep their ad revenue up. A disinterested fan base does not generate cash, then they will be forced to write even more sensationalist, tabloid style stories to manufacture some resemblance of interest.

The game at Tampa is my cut off line. If we win, I'll still believe we have a chance. If we lose then just get ready for next season. It's that simple, cut and dry for me.

Doesn't even matter if we win. The Eagles are two games up on us as are the Giants and with back to back division losses we probably won't have the tie breaker. Plus the Eagles have a charmin schedule left.

It does to me. And oh yeah like Wade and the Broncos are great too. The Eagles and Giants are not going to run the table. They both will lose more games. Your credibility isn't the best with me being t

I disagree with him on the pass protection. I thought it was fine last night outside of Tyron with 2 plays. And that's entirely unlike Tyron. And again...it was 2 plays. Other than that, I was pleased with the pass protection. I don't think Cassel has the greatest feel for the pass rush and we had a lot of situations where we are going shotgun empty against their blitz. That's not an O-Line issue, that's a QB delivering the football in time with the receivers issue. I've generally had no problem with the pass rush all year long outside of the Pats game...where again, 1 player (Leary) didn't play well.

Let's just beat Tampa Bay and get the ship righted for good when Tony comes back against the Dolphins. There are teams in the league that don't have a prayer of getting into the playoffs, but I don't think we're one of them. I mean, we just can't give up half way through the season and wait for the draft.

Everyone is pinning their hopes on Romo and ignoring the fact that the defense has gotten owned or fell apart in 3 of those 6 losses.

And you seem to be ignoring the fact that an offense can help a defense by putting together long, clock-consuming drives that end in points. Or did you not watch the Dallas Cowboys at all last year? When Romo comes back, this defense will look twice as good as it currently does. Bank on it.

That's the thing about Romo's injury. Its effected everyone. This defense was solid and getting turnovers because teams had to play us aggressive. They couldn't dink and dunk and beat us with 14 points on the board. You get a healthy Romo back......all of a sudden teams are going to be prone to giving you more turnovers, the defense will be on the field less, the run game will be better.....Romo's impact goes further than just the offense. The defense feels his impact as well.

so you think Romo is coming in mid-season form to save the day? it's more likely than not that this defense will relax even more when Romo comes back, putting added pressure on Romo to do it on his own.

He had already been practicing what are you talking about. I heard the same thing about Hardy and McClain but what happen? Dez has missed almost all training camp and most of the season. ....he didn't look rusty.

Hardy and McClain aren't QB's, their job is a bit different, and I would leave McClain out of this because he still looks rusty. Dez looked pretty rusty against Sherman last week and again, his job is a bit different. Remember Romo against the Niners last year, he was pretty rusty.

not checked out yet, but Romo comes back, and unless he plays defense or can coordinate the defense, what does it matter. The defense will still be a problem when he returns.

Agree but Romo does manage that clock well. Alot of our success last season was due to the offense staying on the field.

I don't think anything. I've learned from watching the NFL that nothing is set in stone and nothing is predictable. I've learned that whatever you think will happen doesn't happen and goes the complete opposite.

From what I've read last night and today it looks like most already have.

I guess that my concept of sportsmanship in a NFL fan, is enjoying those things that my picked team actually accomplishes and enjoying their struggles with them. Not shock and awe so that I can claim privileges among fans of other teams. But it would have been very sweet to have beaten Philadelphia yet again.

Sometimes, you get the feel that this might not be your year.
Every team who has ever played any sport at any level has been met with resistance at some point or another. But, there does come a point in a given season - especially one that left the port with so much promise of good times ahead - when you begin to take the hint that the implied promises were not worth the paper they were printed on. The season takes so many negative turns that it appears hopeless before you are even able to get the hopes elevated.

In other words, 2015 appears to be the exact opposite sports experience for Dallas Cowboys fans that 2014 offered. Last year was a season where nothing but misery was expected and before it was done, many saw that this team might have been capable of winning the Super Bowl if the cards had fallen slightly differently.

Well, 2015 was the other side of that coin. A full offseason of imagining what the view from the pinnacle of the mountain might look like and even the symmetry of a preseason trip to the very stadium that would host the Super Bowl offered the sneaky suspicion that this could be a special journey.

And then, as life and sports is wont to do - thud.

I thought overall that the offensive coaching and overall posture made sense. They managed tendencies properly and put the ball in the hands of playmakers. They rediscovered Cole Beasley and the electricity that he offers if you actually use him in the offense.
Like last year, it was more likely Dez's presence as a real threat that opened up the opportunities for Beasley.

Dallas needs to win 6 most likely 7 of next 8 absolutely not happening. This is crazy talk.

Ask a Minnesota Vikings fan at the start of the season if the Vikings would be 6-2 right now, and they would tell you that's crazy talk. Well, the realistic ones would.

Ask an Atlanta Falcons fan if the Falcons would start the season 5-1 and you would have been told it's crazy talk.

It's crazy talk because it's against the odds not because it can't happen.

If we keep the defense off the field. McFadden has looked good the last two weeks but he's gassed in the fourth. Plus we have no choice but to pin our hopes on him staying healthy, some thing he hasn't accomplished that often if ever before.

Vikings isn't really a suprise. Falcons look ok but never bought their hype.
