Agreed. And, even if you don't target Dez again, at least run out of a 3 WR set. Give the defense something to think about other than "I got this". Those runs were so predictable that my 7 year old nephew knew they were coming. That's my problem with Garrett. He relies too much on his players to over power rather than forcing the defense to make a decision. The game is about creating mismatches. All too often Garrett gives the defense the advantage by taking the guess work out of the equation.

Bingo. Yahtzee.

As much as i completely disagree with how the Dallas offense handled that TD drive, what's ironic is the Skins still would've had a good shot at tying the game with only 15 seconds left if the ensuing kickoff plays out the same. They would've had the ball at our 43 needing only 6-7 yards to get in their FG kicker's range. That's at least 1, maybe 2 quick pass attempts. With Dallas playing a soft zone, they likely get the yardage needed in time to get the FG attempt off.

No. wonder we are the most loved them and the most hated team. Even some of our so called fans hate this team.
Get a win, 1 game out of first, and we get the coach haters for winning a game

It's a lazy, self serving stance that many fans take, simply because they don't like Garrett or didn't want him to be head coach in the 1st place. Regardless of how silly it is, he'll be blamed for literally everything that goes wrong.

Our player on the field screwed up? Garrett didn't have him conditioned or prepared properly.

Our offense didn't score a TD when we wanted them to? Garrett should've made Linehan pick a different play.

We get hosed on a bad call by the refs? It's because Garrett lets the refs walk all over him and he never "fights back" on the sidelines.

It's funny, because there's really been enough legitimately wrong with this season to fuel plenty of critical discussion here, but we still get an overload of the nonsense.

I've been visiting this place for awhile now, and I don't think I've ever seen this much bitterness after a win.

Just because we're having a bad year doesn't mean it's not okay to enjoy a win (over a bitter rival at that) immediately following the game. I guess some folks would rather focus on the nonsense.

To each their own I suppose.

"So it’s second-and-1 and they still have their two timeouts, so the thinking becomes, ‘We need to get the first down now.’ If we run it, they call timeout; we run it, they call timeout. All of a sudden we’re kicking a field goal and they get it back and we’re up three with over a minute, and in this league teams go down the field and kick game-tying field goals in those situations. So it was incumbent upon us to make a first down after that."

Wow. Just wow.

Does he know how to count time?

He is exactly right - you are the one who cant work the time out.

You are right, I've not seen that before. It's apologizing for something 4 seasons ago. Good find.

When the article was published is irrelevant. The point stands. And we wouldn't know about that apology if Ware hadn't mentioned it. The point being, it's OBVIOUS that Garrett keeps what he can behind closed doors (regarding player discipline, his interactions with the players, etc). Just because you've never seen something happen, doesn't mean that it actually has never happened.

So he explains what was ideal in that situation, says they discussed it but decided to do something else. That is our head coach. Knows the right call, has practiced the exact situation a lot by his own admission, and then chooses to do something different in the game. That's enough for me to fire him right there.

Jerry Jones criticized Jason Garrett’s clock management at the end of Monday’s win against the Commanders

Garrett said Darren McFadden threw things off kilter when he ran out of bounds, stopping the clock

The Cowboys didn’t instruct McFadden to go down short of the goal line

Darren was trying to score when he went out of bounds.

Whatever. We won.

I don't understand the hate for Garrett on the clock management at the end of the game. He decides to run the ball on 1st down which should have kept the click running but DMC did his best Eli impression and went out if bounds. You can't blame Garrett for DMC doing that. You learn to not run out if bounds in that situation early in life. Then on the next play they score a TD. Did you really want Cassel to take 2 straight knees? It would have then been 4th and 3 with about 1:10 seconds remaining and the Commanders would have had no timeouts.
As far as taking 3 straight knees running the ball on first down should have had the same effect but like I said above DMC was an idiot and went out of bounds

3 WR sets don't work well in short goal line situations because you lack the blocking to show run and there's not much space for the receivers to move. I would rather go with 2 TE's and show run or pass. If we have a mismatch with Escobar, we can motion him to the outside and get him in a jump ball situation.

I have more of a problem of never using the 3WR set when we have 3rd and 1 at say our own 40 yard line. I would never be afraid to show I will throw the ball and may throw it long in that situation.

No he's not. How is it they get the ball back with over a minute remaining if we get the first down on 2nd and 1 without scoring a TD and they have to burn their first time out? That gives them one timeout left where you can run the clock down and kick the field goal.

He's only right if we run it and don't get the first down on 2nd and 1 or 3rd and 1. Which is a pathetic stance.

Only if they get one first down. If they don't get a first down the Commanders get the ball back with 25 or 30 seconds to go.

After Jackson's fumble, Dallas started their possession with 1:26 remaining. Two plays, followed by Washington final two timeouts would run 6 to 10 seconds off the clock. So I assume they snap the ball on third down at 1:16. Run 40 seconds off the clock after that and it leaves the Cowboys kicking a field goal with 36 seconds to go. Did they kick off to Washington with about 33 seconds to go. Keep in mind the number of long returns Dallas has given up this year, and also that the Commanders are merely a field goal down. They likely would need one or two completions to set themselves up for a possible game-tying field-goal.

Dallas could've ran McFadden between the tackles, ensuring he would stay in bounds. It would also most likely ensure that he didn't gain 9 yards as he did Bob dancing outside. Converting that first down was a necessity, and and likely doesn't happen if they run inside.

I am not as concered about the running out of bounds play as I am the TD. At least as far as Garrett is concerned.

As long as Dallas ran the ball on 2nd and 1, or even 3rd and 1, and got the first down then they absolutely could have run the clock all the way down and left the Commanders zero time to score.

But I like going for the TD and trying to go for the win that way. It's more aggressive. I don't like the passive sit back, sit on the ball, and try to win the game on the field goal at the end.

The kick could be blocked. There's a small chance that Bailey could miss.

What if the kick is blocked and that block is returned for a TD? It happens.

You score the TD and give them a minute, or so, to try and tie the game. Put the game on your defense that had played pretty well all night. They played it out the right way.

But, yes, they absolutely could have played it to where the field goal would have been the final play of the game.

I'm being serious. Isn't that Jason's sole remaining game day responsibility?

no. is this football thing new to you? you see that red hankie in his back pocket? you aware of a thing called half time?
