.....but when race is a consideration......we shouldn't run away from it also. SAS has been critical of Marvin Lewis much like JG's deserved criticism. While race does not play into JG tenure, and acknowledged by SAS, JG still coaching when some would have been sent packing long ago....unless they hold a pass like Marvin Lewis has like JG. JG coaching/leadership is terrible....we just saw it on Monday night again.

There is one reason and one reason only that Jason Garrett has a coaching job in the NFL and it has nothing to do with race or anything of the like. Two words:

JERRY JONES!!!!!

This is biggest load of bull ive ever read. Lovie smith was fired after a 10-6 season, and an 8 year period that included a super bowl berth and a NFC championship appearance lost against the unstoppable 2011 Packers.

If that is "little success" ..... what has Garrett done?!

Garrett was gifted a job he wasnt qualified for, wasted a HOF QBs prime years, stripped of playcalling duties during his "Learning/training" phase (how many coaches get that?) from the only side of the ball he has any coaching experience with.

The Truth is that with Lovie Smith and Marinelli and romo we'd have CERTAINLY more than Garrett has accomplished.

Lovie went to a superbowl with Rex Grossman. And NFC championship with Jay Cutler.

Whats garretts excuse?

But wait, Garrett won two super bowls clapping on the sidelines with Aikman!!!!:muttley:

I would take the ups and downs of Lovie. Like the previous poster stated, he had success with Grossman and Cutler. Other than last year, which may have been a fluke, JG's tenure has been mediocre at best. IF we go out and kick *** next year and, at the very least, make the NFC championship, I'll change my mind.

Well...yeah - they both have a 6 & 7 year head start respectively.

Yep, give Garrett another 20 years and he might catch up. Take a good hard look at what a Garrett run team is going to look like when Romo is gone. You are getting a nice sneak peak into the future. And just think.....................thanks to Jones grand plan to NOT draft a young QB until Romo is completely toast, we can look forward to 3 or 4 years minimum of growing pains when the time comes.

Garrett is either a good coach or he isnt. At this point, there should be no wait and see going on. He has been our coach for 8 years.

Lewis is around bc the bengals are cheap and in a league where the line between losing and winning is fine there is value in always being in the tourney.

Jerry values that Garrett had a great working relationship with the jones's and believes he'll build a team that's always in the mix. We've had too many "gear up for the big one" seasons.

Race is brought up all the time bc we need things to worry about since we aren't running from saber tooth tigers anymore

i know i know but i thought it was established on this board that the Jerry thing is not changable at all. Since thats the case everything else is and should be.

broken clocks show the correct time twice a day. all we can hope for is Jerry landing another good coach like he did Jimmy and Parcells.

Right, all we can do is hope that by some miracle the team and coaches can somehow fade Jerry. We almost did it last year.

Then why did he bring up race if it's just because Jerry likes him? Why even mention it?

Because the race card is the most often used and worn out card people play. It brings more clicks, more attention ect...

It also can be used as a distraction. What? I have a losing argument/ opinion/ case/ or stance let me play this...bam race card

Race is brought up because its a big part of thngs whether people want to believe it or not. That's why we have the "race card" even though we all know what its almost exclusively is used to say.

No it's not PPl stab based on nfl teams they'll find a reason.

First - I'm not defending Garrett I'm making an observation that both Lewis and Smith have coaching careers significantly longer that Garretts so yeah they have more accomplishments but if yo're going to defend those guys records

Roy I'm going to disagree with you and I don't want you to think I"m defending Garrett - I'm not happy with the results either. I think maybe my position was skewed in that my point was I disagreed on the whole race card when both of those guys have been given a lot chances when other coaches with better results have not.

except (and i hate saying this) SAS doesnt have a losing argument. the race card here is a distraction, i agree, though so don't lose sight on the point of the argument. that Jason Carrot would have been fired had he been a coach under any other owner, race aside.

hate that the dude brought up race. just totally immaterial. speaking as a Latino (minority) myself.

Okay let's clarify some things.

1. The point of my point was never to defend Garret, we feel the same way on the results so far which is why you seem so upset. I absolutely agree we have basically wasted a once in a generation free agent franchise quarterback.

2. The only thing that would trump my "load of bull" would be you trying to ever defend those two guys's modicum of success by trying to compare it to Garrett at this stage of his coaching career. Combined they have over ten more years worth of chances to prove themselves. It's possible Tom Caughlin is going to get fired this year with two Super Bowls, John Gruen got fired and Sean Peyton might, yet both Smith and Lewis have had more years than all of those guys and they still have jobs. It's like saying Moe is a lot better than Curly or Larry.

Combined, they are a bit better than one game over .500 for their entire coaching careers.

Love Smith - 11 Years

Games over .500: 6
Super Bowl Wins: 0
Overall Championships: 0
Conference Championships: 1
Division Championships: 3

Marvin Lewis - 12 Years
Games over .500: 18
Super Bowl Wins: 0
Overall Championships: 0
Conference Championships: 0
Division Championships: 4

3. What was completely missed was the point I was making that race should not have been part of SAS's reasoning.

Now Ill be the first to say these 2 idiots on BSPN are just clowns most of the time but they nailed it about Jerry & Jason and why Mr Teflon still has a job. SAS brought up the race issue and the frustrations for blacks in America and how thy dont get as many passes as the white Garrett but he clarified that he wasnt saying Red has his job still because he is white but because Jerry likes him.

Any other coach with Red's track record would have been fired was the point of what they said and IMO they nailed it.

BS...... to us cowboys fans we can point to individual instances and much more detail on why we want garrett gone. but on what basis are they making their claims? total BS. a coach who has rebuilt the team, has never had a losing record and is dealing with major injuries. they are making it into a race issue because it sells.
