Moore: Kellen Moore is a curiosity to entertain a dreadful season; he's not Cowboys' future

http://sportsday.***BANNED-URL***/d...sity-entertain-dreadful-season-cowboys-future

IRVING -- Kellen Moore is in his fourth NFL season. He has not thrown a pass in a regular season game.

Yet a large portion of Cowboys fans howl that he deserves a shot now. Interestingly enough, many of them are more adamant in stating their case than Moore himself.

"Everyone loves to play, but at the end of the day everyone has roles,'' Moore said Tuesday when asked if he's chomping at the bit to show what he can do. "You do your best in that particular role. That's how it works.''

Here is what's at work: there's no true groundswell to see Moore. Fans simply want to see someone other than Matt Cassel. They are tired of the veteran's struggles and frustrated with a season that will soon end without a playoff berth.

No one can argue Moore is a better option. Fans just want something different. They want to be entertained. They want a reason to follow this team over the final three games...

If they aren't willing to give a 4th season QB his first NFL regular season reps at the end of this garbage season, especially with the proven garbage now starting ahead of him, then Moore shouldn't be taking up a roster spot.

It has nothing to do with being entertained, it's about getting something useful out of the season. They should be churning the practice squads for DT's & S's .... Wilcox and Hayden shouldn't see the field after this weekend.

He won't be in the future

I'm not saying he's starter material. The question is he a viable backup. No one short of him mamma thinks he's going to be the starter here.

Nobody thought Tom Brady was going to do anything when he got his shot.

You never know. You just never know.

Moore could play and he could go 10 for 35 with 3 picks. Or he could play and he could go 25 of 27 with 4 TD's.

You never know. You just never know.

Give the guy a chance. I just don't understand the logic behind some coaches, can he really be that much worse than what we have now?

Nobody truly believed Romo was the future until he played. Parcells had some faults but he took a real gamble putting a QB with no real game experience on a team that was considered borderline playoffs even with Bledsoe. This coach can't even take that risk when we are a borderline top draftpick team just because we "have a chance".

then don't waste a uniform on him.

EXACTLY!!! No one thinks this kid is Roger Staubach! He probably sucks, and we actually have a chance to confirm that and not waste a second of next season on him, yet they are too dumb to take advantage of that. Also he can be complete garbage and STILL be better than Cassel, just by coincidence.

Throw the man in there..at this point in time would it make a difference?? Or are there some people in this organization actually still clinging to hope?? it is like a freaking nightmare that you cannot wakeup from with this team.

I absolutely agree with you here. This is a lost season, spare us any talk of playing Your best or 'not tanking' and get what you can out of it. Churn this roster and get a good look at each and every option you can. That would be in this team's long term best interests. If they don't know how it's done, they can look around at what the rest of the league is doing. And that includes team both in and out of the playoff hunt.

I think they might be afraid he might be good and win the next 3 and screw up the draft pick myself.

They would look like fools having had him this long and never playing him. This staff takes way too long to get young players involved on the offense.

Plus JJ wanted Bledsoe to be the QB in 2006 and Parcells wanted Romo and the rest is history.

Agree.....

But then again....If we were to win out..and somehow get in....I'm not scared of Seattle coming back here. 13-12 last time out.....And @ that point we are riding a 3 game win streak...and a hot Kellen Moore.....I take that all day.:D

I remember watching the Sr Bowl practices...Wilson and Kellen side by side. No difference @ all size wise. Funny how Wilson got his shot...Kellen hasn't. And Kellen out played him all week long.....

How bad can he be. Give the kid a shot and figure out what he can or cannot do.

Dumb article. I do not believe that many of us think Moore is next Romo. I just want to see if he can be the next John Kitna, meaning a backup that gives us a chance to win. We KNOW Cassel is not the future either as a starter or the back up. He has been given chances and he has failed. What harm is there in seeing if the all-time college wins leader can be our new Kitna in 2 or 3 meaningless games in a lost season? If he does poorly we have a better draft pick. If he does well we enter the season only needing a rookie to learn behind Romo and Moore for a couple of years instead of needing both a rookie and veteran.

This part is also dumb:"Interestingly enough, many of them are more adamant in stating their case than Moore himself." Of course he is not going to openly question the head coach's decision. He is being a team player and he knows he is not helping his chances by upsetting the staff. He in no way is saying that he doesn't want to play or does not believe in his ability to play well.
